So Tom Miller does own Bet Mania

The online gambling industry had the wind knocked out of its sails today when U.S. Attorney Catherine Hanaway announced that the United States FBI had arrested BETonSPORTS.com Founder Gary Kaplan in the Dominican Republic. Kaplan has been in custody since Wednesday however Hanaway intentionally did not release the news until after the World Trade Organization's compliance panel announced that the United States failed to comply with the WTO ruling in favor of Antigua & Barbuda in the long standing dispute between the two countries.

BETonSPORTS plc officials were indicted in July 2006 by a federal grand jury on various charges of racketeering, conspiracy and fraud. The indictment was unsealed back in July 2006 when the FBI picked up BETonSPORTS CEO David Carruthers while he was on a layover between the UK and Costa Rica in the Dallas/Fort Worth Airport. Carruthers is hold up in a St. Louis hotel under house arrest awaiting trial. Now that Kaplan is in custody, only two other BETonSPORTS managers, Norm Steinberg and Peter Wilson remain at large.

"Last I heard, Norm is sitting in his house in Costa Rica and hasn't left in months. I heard his prostate is in bad shape. He's dead broke from legal and medical bills," commented an industry source that wished to remain anonymous. "Norm laid off his long time personal assistants and many long time employees. The legal bills from his last fight killed him and funding his son-in-law's legal team is costly."

If Norm is still in Costa Rica, he better reconsider whether that is a smart place to be right now. Roland Corvington, Special Agent in Charge, FBI St. Louis Office, said in a statement Friday, "The U.S. State Department, specifically in Costa Rica, has provided and will continue to provide, vital assistance in relation to all aspects of this investigation including the apprehension and deportation of fugitives such as Gary Kaplan."

Another source that worked at Betmania.com went on to confirm what many online gambling industry insiders already knew, "Betmania.com is 100% Norm's sportsbook. He bankrolled it and left 'Mike Mitchell' to run it. They are 30 days late on payments and players can't get paid. Betmania.com is dead in the water!"

Point-Spreads.com recommends that all players stay away from Betmania.com at this time and if Norm is reading this article, don?t go to the Dominican Republic.

I actually got paid by Bet Mania in a relatively short amount of time. They hit me with a huge fee for a Money Gram withdrawal, but at least I got most of my $$.

He's fine in CR. CR has balked every single time at FBI pressure.

That being said, he'd be better off in Antigua.

Still, not one processor or bookie has been arrested outside the US and Dom Rep.

The RMCP took down starnet a few years back in Canada.

France, where - as in Israel - gambling is provided by a state monopoly, also arrested two executives of an Austrian online gaming company, Bwin, whose operations were ruled unlawful by German authorities.
-----------------------------------------------
The chief executive of bookmaker Victor Chandler has been detained in Israel, the latest victim of a mounting crackdown on internet gaming companies.
Michael Carlton was detained for more than two hours by authorities. The arrest is the latest in a worldwide crackdown against internet gaming sites that has seen executives of gambling companies targeted by authorities in several countries.
---------------------------------------
BRITISH executives of online gambling companies could be arrested on criminal charges in Germany if they set foot in the country.
Officials from the interior ministries of the German states of Hesse and Bavaria told The Business that executives of foreign companies who let German residents place sports bets online are committing ?criminal? acts that could lead to prosecution in Germany.

Germany?s threat to foreign managers follows the recent arrests in the US and France of executives from offshore gambling firms.
French state gambling officials also plan to adopt a tougher stand: officials told The Business that they will continue to report offences by foreign betting operators to the government, raising the possibility of more arrests of executives at offshore gambling firms.
Attempting to enforce their monopoly on sports gambling, Hesse, Bavaria and Saxony ordered Austrian online betting company Bwin to stop advertising and offering betting services in their states. The ban ?goes for everyone else, too,? a spokesman for the Hesse interior ministry in Wiesbaden told The Business.

Bwin has become the highest profile target in the German crackdown on gambling which has also seen the forced closure of privately run betting shops around the country.

The problem with that arguement is that BoS screwed its Costa Rician employees. I am sure that anyone associated with BoS that is wanted by the US is going to have issues in CR if they are found in CR. It would not suprise me in the least that CR is cooperating with US in regards to BoS fugitives.

Re: So Tom Miller does own Bet Mania

Think we can now close the book chapter in that NOT ONE PLAYER is getting any of their money from BOS? I'm sure many already felt that way. I am very sorry for that and I sincerely feel for you players that did get caught up in this with your money. Unless I am missing something, then the 12th round has come and gone with ALL players losing.

Yes and Millenium was my first ever sportsbook.
That was a good sportsbook, nice website, good payouts on parlays and teasers. The only problem that I ever had with them was requesting a payout they made me think like I was asking them for a kidney and they charged like $60 just to get a check. But they did pay up every single time and usually withing 2 days of the request.
And it was impossible to get paid out if you had won on a free bet or bonus money or western union fees. I had to jump through about eight hoops after I turned a free $30 into $1000.
All in all I did like Millenium. And I can still remember Tom Miller on that damn recording
