Devil, Michele Wie has been a joke for a while now. Shes more of a sideshow attraction than anything else. There are teens that have already won on the LPGA tour andshe aint one of them. She was compared to Tiger Woods when she first came out and I argued with everyone on that comparison. While Tiger went out and learned how to win in Amatuer events, Michele Wie tried to go pro without ever learning how to win. The girl that did that was Morgan Pressel, who won her first LPGA Major this year.

Its not all Michele Wie's fault though, her parents should receive all the blame here as they have no clue. At this rate, Michele Wie will be on VH1's "Where Are The Now" in a few years.

Why won't daddy realize its time to shut her down for a few years? Let her finish HS and get in a year of college so she can work on her game quietly and then come out and see how high is up. Tiger was an amazing player at 14, but Earl Woods didn't demand the PGA let him play. He knew it would still be waiting for him when the time was right. Her father seems to have forgotten all this and wanted his daughter to be a circus sideshow instead of a top-notch golfer.

Pioneer, youre dead wrong here. Michelle Wie has made over 20 million in endorsements only. Please dont confuse that with money won in any tournaments. The problem is that those endorsment deals always have a stipulation of tour money won and she can lose those endorsements if she continues to struggle. Yes, she is going to the same college as Tiger Woods. Thats where the similarities end. Tiger (as much as I root against him) has honed his skills and has the mental toughness to overcome a bad day and win. MW has never learned what it takes to win, she does not have the skills needed to win. She can drive the ball a long way, but her short game is well below average. The average person thinks that Tigers length is what wins all these tournaments, its not. He is one of the best putters on tour, especially when things get tight. This was learned from playing Amatuer events when he had to fight to beat his opponents. This is the thing that Morgan Pressel learned how to do. MW never learned how to do this, instead she would rather try and make a PGA cut. Of course, she does bring spectators to the John Deere Classic on the forst 2 days of the event, but she doesnt stay for days 3 and 4. She completely over estimates her ability. She needs to beat Morgan Pressel and Paula Craemer a few times before she tries to compete with some of the lesser names on the PGA.

dirty, no I havent thought of that. But heres the deal, she does not have a good enough short game to be a great player. Like I have said before, she is not completely at fault as she did not set this course, but her parents brought her in the public eye way too quickly before all her skills were good enough to compete. ...and I actually agree with you about her short game being below average for LPGA pros, but what you apparently are forgetting is that MW is only 17 years old!!!! The short game can be improved through practice; MW's short game will improve and she will win on the LPGA tour. For anyone to suggest that a 17 yo does not have the skills to win is just ridiculous...I'm thinking of a PGA professional whose career I followed and I know for a fact that he NEVER won on the PGA tour although he played full time for 25 years...then he won his first tournament on the Senior Tour...Bobby Wadkins! I repeat, MW is 17 years old...she has not fulfilled her enormous potential yet, but for crying out loud, she's only 17 years old!

Nike will throw stupid money at anyone they may think will become a superstar, they just make it up by jacking up the price of their products on the fools who think 2 sneakers are actually worth $150. Basically, it's the greedy ripping off the dumb and making a bet with it.

And maybe $20 million isn't enough for some of us to get us to browbeat our daughters into doing nothing else in their lives except for one single thing, like her pathetic father did. I would never, not even for $20 million, ruin my kids' youth for that twisted upbringing.

she "might" end up being a flop but so what? at this point the money she gets from nike to play a very limited schedule is more than any prize money she could win.
and nike just wants the exposure, they get a lot of tv time in every men's event she plays in.
so i know people in this country like to put a lot of blame on the rich and famous but i can't see any fault in what she's done and what nike's done.
if she can make $20 million finishing near the bottom in a couple of men's events and playing some women's events too then why shouldn't she?

and don't judge her career by the last couple of tournaments, for those that don't know she has been playing with a pretty bad wrist injury.

Her father *is* pathetic. Understand? He IS pathetic. His actions speak for themselves. He's fired her caddy MID-ROUND for not following HIS instructions. He's yelled out advice to her daughter MID-ROUND, which he knows is a violation of LPGA rules and he did it anyway (and his daughter wasn't penalized either). He's encouraged his daughter to quit instead of playing when it was to her advantage to quit (which is fking PATHETIC!) He also makes her break "unwritten ethics rules" like not playing the course the week of the tournament, instead encouraging her to play it again and again and again as the other Tour players complain (to a Wie-bit deaf LPGA). I could go on, but I've made my point and I know it's being wasted on you anyway.

Likewise your allegation that MW's father has said he would like to see his daughter play in the Masters...well duh, that's not much of an accusation as I would like to see the same thing for my daughter! I do not of course condone any breaches of the LPGA rules that MW's father may have been guilty of, but I think that is better left to the LPGA than the EOG forum. I don't know for certain, nor do you, the exact input the MW's father may have had on her quitting after 16 holes last week. But if he advised her to quit, and he can not quit for her(obviously you don't have daughters or apparently even a wife), then it was excellent advice as she could have been barred from the LPGA tour for the rest of the year if she bogeyed the final 2 holes.

OK, I'll bite....what's the joke?

that she finished last by almost 10 strokes in this past weekend's LPGA event. that she withdrew from the event 2 weekends ago simply so she didnt get 2 more bogeys and get barred from pasrticipating in any further LPGA events this season. that she tried to run before she could crawl and she still cant run or crawl, 3 years later. and that given all the above, she's still trying really really hard to not to place last consistently on her PGA cut attempts. and her "wrist injury since january"?? joke.

Michelle has two major problems right now, and cash flow isn't one of them. The first is her father. It's well documented that he is a nutcase. The second is her wrist injury. If it is as serious as it appears to be, she needs to shut it down and let it recover, or get the surgery if that is what's needed. What you need to remember, and that includes Annika, is her record in the majors last year. Pretty impressive for a 16-17 year old. I also believe that she had the second most points in the Karsten point standings for the US women, the womens version of the Ryder Cup. There is no doubt that she can play, but until she is fit and gets away from her father, we may never know how good that she will be.

Professional career

Wie cannot officially become a member of the LPGA Tour until her 18th birthday, unless she petitions for an exception to this rule, as some players, including Morgan Pressel and Aree Song have previously done. She has not chosen to file such a petition. Since she is not an LPGA member, she is limited to playing in no more than six LPGA events per year and only when granted entry by sponsor exemption. She can also play in an unlimited number of non-LPGA professional events, including the US Women's Open and Weetabix British Open Her earnings also do not appear on the official ADT money list and she is not eligible for Rolex Rookie of the Year honors. Nor do her statistics appear on the LPGA's web site. However, as a professional, she is allowed to collect prize money. As with all non-LPGA member professional female golfers, she does appear in the Rolex World Golf Rankings.
