I called Scotty from BetJamaica to inquire about this dispute. The customer had been clearly informed, warned and gets reminded every time he logged in as seen in the pop up display above.

This is not something that had recently been told to the customer, but he had been singled out and warned not to violate the companies limits in the past.

The above is also a constant reminder that was implented by BetJamaica on the player's Internet account to warn him that he is only allowed a 500 dollar max on any wager at BJ.

As soon as his account was reviewed, all circumventions were corrected, period.

It is my opinion that the sports book did absolutely nothing wrong, but in fact the sports book is seeing an extortion attempt by the circumventor.

Scotty says anybody who wants to call him to discuss this matter personally is welcomed at any time...

As long as BetJam gave back the losing $500 bets at the racebook (which it sounds like they have) they have done nothing wrong.

If the customer had questions or needed clarification, he could have called the book

Unless I'm mistaken, books are able to place limits in their software for different players. If a book warns a player about a set limit, yet fails to put this info into their computer system...then it's the book's fault. They should get their software right. JMO.

NO....not only is it not OK to circumvent strict account limits, it is not possible to do so. According to the player, oscark, after that message, could not bet more than $500 in the sportsbook. So the real question is why did BetJm not prevent the player from betting more than $500 in the racebook? As I said in post #77 in the BetJamaica dispute thread...

"...so we agree that BetJm not only told oscark that he could not bet more than $500 in the sportsbook, but they also insured by their software, that oscark was physically unable to bet more than $500 in their sportsbook.

But BetJm did not insure by their software, that oscark was physically unable to bet more than $500 in their racebook. In fact, they posted that the limits at certain major tracks was $1000 and allowed oscark to make 2 $500 bets in the racebook, as opposed to not letting him make 2 $500 bets in the sportsbook. Therefore, it could be logically argued that BetJm was profferring oscark implicit consent to bet the posted limits in the racebook($1000), as opposed to his $500 limit in the sportsbook.

Now even as you say, Devil, this may have been just an oversight on the part of BetJm, shouldn't BetJm be responsible for their oversights? I certainly agree, as I said in post #24, that it would have been better for oscark to call BetJm and confirm what his racebook limits before making any limit bets. As anal as I am, I sure would have! And I would be willing to side with BetJm if they had made their claim on one of the first six $1000 bets which they had no trouble accepting and paying oscark.

But this appears to be BetJm taking a NEEDLESS shot at the player. Needless is all caps, not to try to emulate the Devil, but to make the point that BetJm is cutting their nose to spite their face! BetJm should have congratulated the player on his win and let him keep betting...chances are he would give all the money back in the long run if not the short run. If anything, BetJm should reconsider allowing horseplayers to bet $1000 if BetJm is not laying off those bets. Obviously, $1000 bet on a longshot and not put into the parimutuel pool, makes a huge difference in the payout."

My only question is how he was able to place the bets if it was not allowed.

I once played at a book and my limits were cut and anytime I tried to place a bigger bet a pop up came letting me know I couldnt.

I guess different books use different software.

I think everything has been handled fairly then(if they paid the guy as if each bet was for the $500 max instead of $1000). Not sure if BetJam wouldve refunded half if all the $1000 bets were losers, but since the player's account has such a notice each time he logs in, he should expect that he may not get paid fully if he violated the rule.

This is complete bullshit, and Scotty knows it!!

If this guy would have continued to lose $1000 a pop, they would have gladly kept the money.

Only after he made a score, they realized THEIR software error!!

And if the "circumventing" wagers total was more than the win amount they would have paid the win, and probably booted him.

This is pure shot taking by BJ.

His sportsbook wagers were limited.

There was no mention of the racebook, which always has different rules.

Plenty of Kool Aid drinkers around here.

I'll NEVER open an account there.

Because no sports book has the time to audit every losing wager. Only large wins are looked at for security purposes, period. This was how he was caught circumventing the limits. All circumvented wagers were refunded and corrected.

I strongly suggest anyone to feel free to call Scotty personally as I am sure he will anwer any and all questions openly.

It is interesting to note that the account holder himself has still yet to contact Scotty about these circumvented wagers.

I have known SCOTTY for almost 10 years and I TRUST him.

Those in this forum who also know SCOTTY trust him.

Can the same be said about this player with equal conviction?

Rewarding someone I believe is trying to extort an upper echelon book sets a very dangerous precedent for this industry that I don't want to be part of...

Yes, it is unfortunate that the racebook software is a different set up than the sportsbook software. But surely you are not suggesting that this is the fault of anyone else but BetJamaica?

And you are admitting that because only large wins are looked at for security purposes, if oscark had not won a large ticket, then his "dupe" $500 tickets or $1000 losses would not have been credited back to him. Thank you....that is the definition of "shot taking".

This is not about trusting Scotty....I like Scotty, I trust Scotty, I am very grateful to Scotty, this type of problem could never happen to me. This is about doing the right thing. Just like the other software problem I detailed in the BetJamaica dispute thread, Scotty and BetJamaica don't seem concerned with doing the right thing. But even if you don't want to do the right thing for whatever reason, at least do the fiscally responsible thing. BetJm saved what, about $10K, by not paying oscark on his big horse win...$10K I must add again, at the risk of sounding repetitive, that oscark would almost certainly have lost back in a short time. Does anyone doubt but that BetJamaica is going to lose one helluva lot more than $10K due to this?

Not playing my violin for the player on this one. Even though that is a huge payday down the drain, I cannot understand what would make someone put the bet down in the first place. The bet in question is not valid. It is right there in black and white. The only problem on the BJ side that I can see, is the message is not in bold print and is a little cryptic. Someone in a rush might miss it if they were bombed or really stoned... It is amazing to me how many "situations" can arise in the on-line betting world.

I have the same nickel limits even worse i have $250 limits on all props and qtr bets and if the guy doesnt get paid in full i will be disappointed at scotty and betjam

i called when my popup was there and had it removed so everytime i logged on i didnt have to see it

they book the bet they need to pay the bet

many ways around sportsbooks limits and this guy wasnt doing any of them all he did was bet into a bet where the house edge is huge would they not let him bet $1000 on a hand of blackjack?

If BetJM had this policy in place on his account why not prevent him to do this through the software? The book accepted the bet when they had the ability to set their software not to do so. This is why I think the book is wrong.

I don't know about BetJM but i have a book that has me at a set limit. Their software won't let me bet on the same side again after i've bet it for the limit. I know this isn't some impossible setting for sportsbooks to set.

He had been doing previously and not been contacted so he assumed it was ok in the racebook. Betjam graded previous winner (6/5 shot) and losers. Betjam took a free shot! They are clearly in wrong here and shocked so many ppl disagree.

if i bet $300 on team A -2 then the line goes to my -1 i can only get $200 more on them it wont accept $201.

Why wouldn't BetJM simply put the $500 limit for the racebook and casino when they put it on the players sportsbook account????? Clearly just as easy as the player calling and asking, and BetJM had the ability for there to never be this grey area of who's right and who's wrong.

He had been doing previously and not been contacted so he assumed it was ok in the racebook. Betjam graded previous winner (6/5 shot) and losers. Betjam took a free shot! They are clearly in wrong here and shocked so many ppl disagree.

they went back and refunded this guys Money on all wagers lost over $500.... They rectified the situation. He was credited back the money he lost over his Limit. There is not shot taking being done...
