Suspect in slaying of pregnant Marine arrested in Mexico

DAYTON, Ohio (AP) -- A lawyer for the family says the mother of an Ohio Marine has reacted with "shock and surprise" to news that her daughter's acccused killer has been captured.

Attorney Merle Wilberding tells Dayton TV station WDTN that Mary Lauterbach got a call from the FBI that Marine Corporal Cesar Laurean was caught yesterday in Mexico.

Laurean is charged with first-degree murder in the death of Lance Corporal Maria Lauterbach, a native of Vandalia. Her burned remains were found in January in the backyard of Laurean's home near Camp Lejeune, North Carolina, where both were stationed.

Wilberding says Mary Lauterbach did not expect an arrest would come any time soon.

Laurean now awaiting extradition to the U.S.

EVEN CNN REPORTERS ARE SAYING HIS DAYS IN JAIL WILL NOT BE PLEASANT FOR THE CRIME HE COMMITTED. EXTRADITION IS AN ISSUE AT THIS TIME.

He could go straight to Red line brig, not much worse than that. Plus you commit a heinous crime like that, you get Leavenworth, and daily happy meetings. I doubt she killed herself. He is going to wish he just let her have the kid, for, the rest of his miserable existance.

Most of the men and women serving have to have something going for them or they get bounced out of the military. In fact, a lot of them actually believe they are doing thier duty for our country. This one bad apple is a rare bird. Because he is in the military, it gets a lot more press. I can't say anything bad about our troops except this scumbag. When I served I hung with a lot of marines, they were all good guys for the most part.
