The Washington Wizards are doing their best to hang on to free agent guard Gilbert Arenas, offering him a maximum contract, the Washington Post reports.

The Wizards are offering a six-year contract worth between $125 million and $127 million to Arenas, who has been courted by the Golden State Warriors since Baron Davis opted out of his contract.
Sporting News' Sean Deveney reports that the Warriors also have reached out to Elton Brand, who opted out of his contract with the Clippers.
Arenas flew to Asia on Tuesday for a promotional tour with Adidas and will not return to the U.S. for two weeks.
The Wizards have asked Arenas to consider taking less money to help the team gain the financial flexibility to sign other players either this year or in the future, and the Post reports he is considering that request.
The final figures of Arenas' contract will be determined in part by the new salary cap and luxury tax thresholds that will be set by the NBA next week. Players cannot sign new contracts until July 9. Arenas reportedly received a five-year offer from the Warriors on Tuesday that would pay him just under $100 million.

It's the NBA what do you expect?
They gave Juwan Howard 100+ million 10 years ago, this is nothing. At least Arenas can play.

He isn't worth the money. On the flip side, all professional athlete's are overpaid imo.

The zero in Agent Zero stands for his nonexistant defense. Not my kind of player at all. Amazing what he has done does not equate to that but you get what the market bears.

They deserve all that money though. The athletes are the reason all that money is being made so they should get it

Fuck that dude, it should be more affordable to go to a game.. Most of these guys could still live the good life with half the pay they're receiving.

I don't believe they "deserve" it but I don't blame them for taking it. The only people to blame really are the owners for paying the salaries. Is there anybody here who works who wouldn't take the money if offered?

With a family of six I'm not spending hundreds of dollars to attend a sporting event. The Astros have some good deals for the family but the others are way too expensive imo.

Blame the owners not the players for your ticket price.
