OSU, think about this logically.

It's kind of like a car.

Would you rather have a mechanic that you know and trust working on overhauling the engine, or would you rather have some guy that you just met overhauling it :)

So you would rather pay someone extra to stay up when they are not use to being up and run the risk of them making a mistake due to lack of sleep, than to do it when they are use to being awake, are alert and have others that are familiar with the situation around?

In a case such as this, I think I would rahter see the forum down for a few minutes than run the risk of something being done in error due to a sleepy technician. :)

Oh my goodness. We are not trying to land the space shuttle here. We are updating software. Geez.

I have an internet business and I can tell you that if they tried to update my software during "crunch time" I would have someones nuts.

It can be done at 3:30 AM and it should be done at 3:30 AM.

I think what OSU is trying to get across, and forgive me OSU if I am incorrect, is that there are inherent risks with any upgrade/ update/ modification and that if something catastrophic were to happen, it would be better for it to happen at a low traffic hour.

However, Hoffa is right in that this isn't rocket science and if Shrink approved this, we have to assume is he aware of the risks involved.

Yes Hoffa, just having a friendly discussion to pass the time :)

OSU, I think we will have to simply agree to disagree. Why they are doing this when they are makes perfect sense to me, even being fully aware of the risks, and the time involved in such a major undertaking.

I can, however, see your point as well. Middle of the night would allow for any error that might occur, but the risk of error does increase then as well.

I'm done. It's not my website. Maybe the next update can be Sunday at noon, opening week of the NFL. :pop:

I have Attention Deficit Disorder (amongst other things:+textinb3 ). I will not wait 10 mins to continue posting my jibberish while software is updating. I will lose interest and move on to something else. I am probably the only one.
