Vikings quarterback Tarvaris Jackson hurt his right knee and was removed in the first quarter of Minnesota's preseason game Saturday night against the Baltimore Ravens.

The injury occurred late in the quarter on a tackle by Baltimore linebacker Antwan Barnes. Jackson was running around right end on a scramble before Barnes caught up to the third-year quarterback and hit him on the leg.
Jackson was then taken down by Dawan Landry and Ray Lewis.

The extent of the injury was not immediately known, but the Vikings said Jackson would not return to the game.

Jackson took the Vikings to a touchdown on their first drive and was moving the team downfield on their second possession when the injury occurred.

Jackson was 7-for-11 for 82 yards and a touchdown. He was replaced by Gus Frerotte.

Doesn't sound TOO BAD though :thumbsup

Jackson didn't immediately go to the locker room. He was sitting on the sidelines with an ice pack on his knee, talking and joking with teammates

Don't mean this in a hateful way, but would they really lose that much if he didn't return for a while?

Re: Tavaris Jackson injured tonight

Not sure if Jackson or Frerotte either one can hold up for an entire 16 game season Hache.

Pennington not near strong enough arm for the vertical passing game they use though.

with the running game they have he would be great for the play action. plus their vertical game is garbage.

give me a mistake free, handle the game, qb with that roster and you win the division.

Gus Frerotte? Did the owner of the vikings get bought out by the lady who owned the Indians in "Major League"?

Good Point! Out of the top 50 QB's in the NFL - I have him rated # 48. He doesn't have it now - didn't have it when he started - he is NEVER going to have it! He could not start for one other team in the NFL and on many teams he wuld be the 3rd string guy or on the taxi squad.
