I'm calling Bullsh$t on Ginobli's foot.....

I know Manu. I have seen him play and am well aware on his foot problems. They play the US who is more than ready and he knows it, the US gets out to a big lead 21-4.....look unbeatable and Manu decides to call it a day. You gut it out. He has done it before. Many have. Nocioni was limping around and played. THe replay did not look that bad at all on that foot. I have not gotten an update and for all I know he could have broken his foot. It might have been unplayable to play on it. That could be the case. I am taking the opinion that him and his team was in trouble and Manu said: "NO MAS"...Wilt Chamblerlain came out of a game 7 and Bill Russell criticized him for it and they never spoke again for years. How do you come out of a game 7? Well they all say this is the most important game of their lives. Well, I like Ginobli an awful lot but he quit today. You take your beating like a man. You limp, you fight, you play with the heart of a lion. Manu played like a pussycat today. You take you beating like a man.

across the street, I got this response...this dude is on the money.....

I agree...Ronnie Lott cut 1/3 of his fucking finger off to play ...poor MANU has a sore foot and calls it a day...come on Manu...I think ur one of the best in the world but man up...I tore ligaments in my ankle during a highschool game and kept playing...a highschool game...if I was playing in an international semi-final you would have to cut one of my limbs off to keep me out of the game...P-U-S-S-Y

Not the same at all as Lott.

Lott was playing for the team who payed his salary. Manu was not. Manu is a warrior as described by many many teammates.

This isnt Paul Pierce with a fake injury Tom

I have been talking about this all day online and emails etc. lol. Good conversations but also serious.

Also from across the street

I live near San Antonio, and go to games multiple times a year -
and watch most of their games on TV.

Manu is a fierce competitor. I'd be *really* surprised if his
contractual obligations to the Spurs did not play a very
large factor in this decision.

I have heard this one about 80 times today relating to the Spurs and/or his contract. I am not buying it. Wayyyyyyy to late for that. They were not looking good and he quit. Biggest game of his life (they all say this in the Olympics and so do the coaches)...and he walks away EARLY and losing bad. "No Mas"...... if you are out there you gut it out.

what played a role? Him leaving the biggest game his country has played??

YEs, it is well known that Ginobli wants to play for his country and decided against the Spurs wishes to PLAY. He always plays for his country. He practiced and played all the many games and this entire tourney that was near its end. THey were finally almost finished. They play the US in the next to last game and were down big. He then walked off and said, I am done. I am not buying it. You play and limp if you have to. This game is as big as it gets. He quit. Nocioni was bad and played.

Another quality response that I happen to agree with..the same dude as above:

I dont think he would of made up the 20 point difference but he sure as hell would of made it a lot more entertaining..He is the leader of the Argentina team and makes everyone else on the floor that much better. I was surprised to not see him go back into the game when Delfino and Scola got it down to 6. I was waiting for him to come jogging onto the court and make the game even closer...And as for the US goes I started getting sick to my stomach when they started showing shades of 2004. There was a 4 - 5 minute stretch where they were taking horrendous 3's, turning the ball over, missing foul shots and not playing defense. But again, that is the difference with this team. They have wayyyyyy too much talent to go cold for more than 5 minutes at a time. It will be impossible for all 12-13 of these guys to go completely cold. We will beat Spain, again, by 20-30<!-- / message -->
