Re: Football Winners - Turning 25,000$ into 100,000$

Thankyou for your post, it actually did help. Exactly, three of my losses were under 500$ (moneyline underdogs). I have explained what I have done, and how, in PM with a couple members but basically my story is that I once started betting small and in my final year of college began taking this serious. I started with a bankroll of 8,000$ with one unit equaling 1% of my bankroll, so 80$ and 2 units being 2%, so 160$.

I divided the year into four quarters. January-March, April-June, July-September, October-December. My goal was to win 25% of my bankroll each quarter, but was happy with anything above 12.5%. 12.5% of 8,000$ = 1,000$ so my goal was to win 1,000$ minimum with reaching my top goal of 25% by profiting 2,000$.

Divide 25% or 12.5% by three = 8.33% or 4.66%. These were my goals per month with 8.33% of my bankroll being on the high end, and 4.17% being on the low end.

So I would try and win between 250$ and 500$. Divide a month into four weeks, my goal was to profit between 1.04% and 2.08%. Meaning my goal each week was to win between 1 and 2 units, with winning 2 units being a good week.

I was comfortable with my handicapping, shared my selections with nobody so did not feel pressure from others to do well and slowly but surely kept building my bankroll. The first four years I was working still and did as a dream hobby, with the hopes to turn my hobby into a dream career (but didn't expect much). I kept reading and learning about handicapping and sports news even when I felt it was pointless, sort of like in University when you're reading something and asking yourself what the hell is this going to teach me. What it did was make me smarter in my field, being sports betting, and help me to develop methods to look at games without needing to spend hours on every game. I honestly spend more time reading about each sport.

Back to what I was saying. I started with 8,000$ and continue until I profited 8,000$ or 100% of my bankroll. It didn't take too long because I was betting alot of games early and was getting lucky. In fact it took under six months. Once I was up 8,000$, I doubled my unit size. My bankroll became 16,000$ and my unit was now 160$. ALL OF MY SELECTIONS WERE EITHER ONE, OR TWO UNITS. Anyways, I could go on and on about each year, and how It took me 15 months to complete my bankroll the second time around, due to a rough baseball season, but I won't bore you. Send me a PM if you want the full story. Anyways, in six years (end of this December) . I have doubled my bankroll using this method of money management almost four times. I needed to reach 128,000$ and was at 124,000$ going into week one of the NFL season, where I won 1,000$. At that point I decided to do what I am doing now. If I can turn this 25,000$ into 100,000$ then I will have 200,000$ saved up. Enough to move to Las Vegas and begin wagering "professionally". I now treat this like a career. Luckily, I was in an above average situation to begin financially (no not rich). I do not recommend this lifestyle for everyone, as people always criticize and say that what you are doing is not a job, its a hobby. Or they say you're a degenerate, or trash your picks and say you won't win forever. All that nonsense. If you do your homework, which I do 5-10 hours a day now, and take this on with the correct mentality then you are able to accomplish this. I have! I also do not recommend quitting your job. You still have to win, and if you consistantly lose your wagers then you are not looking at the right factors when deciding on your selections and if you are a smart bettor; stick to your job until you are at a comfortable enough situation to quit.

THINK ABOUT IT. YOU NEED TO WIN BETWEEN ONE AND TWO SELECTIONS PER WEEK. WHEN YOU LOOK AT IT THIS WAY, YOU'RE OFF TO A GOOD START. Although you may say to me that my method of betting right now is not smart. I know, this is a chance for me to live my dream and I cannot pass it up. If I lose this 25,000$ I have set aside then I will have 100,000$ remaining and will go back to my plan, where I will only need to double my bankroll once more before I can move to Las Vegas. I don't want to wait another year to year in a half. Once you get this much money you have an added pressure, which makes going to sleep very difficult. Another downside to this lifestyle. Anybody can do it, you just need to have the right mindset.

Another good idea is reading newspapers from outside of your city. Online you can find the sports section from almost any newspaper in America. Read both the home teams, road teams and a neutral area's sports section of the paper and you'll see what I mean. Just by reading and seeing homer views of each game can give you a GREAT read on how each team, and its fans view the game; sometimes even leading to enough information to place a solid wager.

You got this down strategically perfect. You understand the game, "the profession" on how to succeed in it. With the exception on a few minor traits, what I read above is basically how I have done well for myself and it is nice to see someone else with a very similar style, and to have done well over time. I wish you the only the only remaining factor... luck.

3-4 Sunday -5160$ (teaser counts as a play)
6-5 overall +4215$

Adding: 2346$ - Tennessee Titans +3.5 -102

someone sent me a pm asking why I like the titans, here is a short part of my reasoning.

Well I just believe Tennessee shows up tonight. They are at home on sunday night football vs. division rivals, winless, so motivation is no factor for them tonight. They have alot of it.

Ive eyed this game since the line came out, and the fact of the matter is that Tennessee will work on establishing the run, so Indianapolis will have to send more men to the box. Doing this will give Collins play action passes to receivers outside of the box and possibly long downfield passes to receivers with man coverage.

Their defense will slow down peyton enough, and stay in this game and I expect Tennessee to come with the fire to win their first game of the season.

Hope this helps.

James, with the money made this weekend my bankroll is up to 139 thousand. All of my wagers are 1-5% of my bankroll.

Playing more aggressive than usual, have had more 3-5% wagers then usual, typically I bet 1% on 75% of wagers, but no I am not being STUPID aggressive. A good kind of agressive to reach my goal by january, so I can move to Las Vegas in the new year.

Some of you guys do not know my full story, and though I have posted it in my other threads I will not re-post it but i'll answer a few questions but for future. PM if you have a question.

QUOTE: kiln
"You say in the first post in this thread that your bankroll began at $25k and the time of posting this play it was about $32,500. You then say you're placing a $6600 bet. My strong suit is most definitely not math. But I do have a calculator on my computer and it says $6600 is about 20% of $32,500.

Then the play loses and all of a sudden $6600 is only 5% of your "actual" bankroll. What about those one or two noobs or three or four of the cadre of desperate sheep that populate this board who actually followed this play on your advice? You told them you were risking 20% of your bankroll but now you say that was never the case"

Okay. Like ive said how many times, the past six years I have been building my bankroll. I started with 8,000$ and this was just a dream. With great money management, a great winning percentage and wagering 1-5% of my bankroll on games, with 75% of those selections being 1 or 2%, I built my bankroll upto 124,000$ doubling my bankroll 4 times. Each time I doubled my bankroll, I doubled my betting size. They remained 1% and 2%, but that 1% and 2% was double the amount of money it was before. In January 2010 my fiancee and I are moving to Las Vegas. I wanted to turn that 124,000$ into 200,000$ by this coming January. This was three weeks ago, I made one thousand dollars going 5-1 in the NFL, which I posted here but I am not including it in my record. So then I had the idea to make the 75,000$ I would raise my stakes a little (75% of my wagers are now 3 to 5% of my bankroll, rather than 1-2%) because football are my two best sports and with all of the other sports starting this is the best time of the year to make money. I posted my bankroll is 25,000$ because this is what I am willing to lose (not wanting to lose, haha don't get my words twisted) as I can still go to vegas with a capital of 100,000. I do have other money for housing and such because up until two years ago I worked, but since have taken this serious. I look at my money different, I look at the money invested in this as my business money which I do not spend on anything personal. I have other money saved up, from the passing of my grandparents and work, which I spend on housing and personal interests. Though I have taken 20,000 out for housing also, which I expect to put back into my sports accounts. When I say 5% I mean of my entire bankroll, so what is over 139,000 now, not the 25,000$ that I have as a boundary bankroll. I am giving this a shot, and so far so good; I need to earn 5,000$ per week on average to reach my goal. if I don't reach 200,000 I am still moving to Las Vegas to live my dream, but it would be nice with the extra financial security.

DIRTY THIRTY:

Thos are my past records. Legitimate, but untracken publicly. Which is why I have only posted it once when asked because I knew people like you would start posting crap about how they are bullshit. I understand this, and this is why I am not bragging. I figure future will speak better to skeptics than the past. Also, I just read someone write about monopoly money. Not only does that make me laugh, but makes me happy. I have worked very hard and spent over 50 hours every week handicapping, and even when people told me that this is a hobby not a job and that i was a degenerate and crap like this, I kept going. So its nice to see someone joking about the amount of money I am able to risk on a game at this point; even though you meant it as an insult. To think, the amount I wagered on todays game was only 1400 less than the bankroll I started with six years. Imagine if I had placed this wager six years ago, it would have crippled me and I would have chased my losses. Luckily I kept to a money management system and picked winners consistantly (not saying I didn't have a losing season in sports, because I did have a couple losing seasons over this time) but I kept going.

As for being an attention seeker, as a few of you have mentioned. Well sure. I love the attention now. Back when I first off betting seriously I was the furthest thing from being an attention seeker. I would study, sit back and enjoy. The only problem with this is that you have noone to enjoy your highs with, and no one to understand where youre coming from when you have low's. This is why I started posting, and though I expected I would have people bash my picks when I lose .. I didn't think it would be to this extreme. There are many decent people who have wished me luck, and understand that this is a longterm plan and not a short term. If I were to get distraught and cry and bitch after every big loss, then my future in vegas would or will not be an enjoyable one. So I treat each wager the same. I place the wager, watch the game live or later, and think about whether I really made the right decision to help improve my capping etc. I have also had people PM me, including friends who I told I would post on here, with messages of encouragement and thanks for "winning them money". As much as I don't like being trashed about strangers who don't know me, who would, these PMs and emails are the counter balance to that downflaw of posting publicly.

QUOTE: GG611
"So just how wise it for a professional gambler/handicapper to post over the internet his wagers in actual dollar amounts?

I am not sure why someone that was actually attempting to build a bankroll to over 4 times their initial stake, especially one that starts at $25K, would print his/her wagers.

What motive, Josh Hamilton, do you have? Are you that much of a good Samaritan? You are a gambler, so I think not.

That leaves only a personality disorder.

So what is it?

Meglomania, Internet Bragger, or Just a kid with too much time on his hands?

Wondering minds want to know."

Okay. As I mentioned earlier, I am not trying to quadruple my bankroll. I am trying to win 75,000$ (well 61 thousand now thanks to these past two weekends), which is only 75% of my bankroll. So I am trying to win 75% of my bankroll in 3 months. This is very difficult, but plausible. 5,000$ a week on average will get me there, like I mentioned before.

I posted why I have yet to post earlier, and the main reason for why I am posting now is because this is the "fun part" for me. I have accepted that I can go to vegas with 100,000 and attempt to win my bankroll once a year (and stop betting once I have), 25,000$ every quarter year, 6,250$ a week or 900$ a day (which is 0.9% of my bankroll a day, or 0.9 units).

I am fine with this, but I feel that I would have a MUCH easier time going to vegas with 200,000$ so that I only have to win 50% of my bankroll a year and so only 0.45% per day on average, or 0.45 units per day.

That is why this is fun and not stressful. I still handicapping but I do not need to look at it as a job right now, like I have for years, and will for years once I get to vegas. I can now look at is a "chance" to make it big, in three months. I have always looked at it as though you should not look at making it big, that it should not be your main concern, but now with the situation I am I can finally do whatever I want with my money without having to worry about losing my bankroll, because that won't happen. I'm to vegas with 100 thousand, MINIMUM. So if I were to lose this 25,000 I would just stop until January; I dont think this has a chance in hell of happening.

Sorry for the long post, but I felt as though I must clear a few things up. I don't want to explain myself for months, so whenever someone says something that falls into those lines I will refer them to this post.

I hope you all had a great weekend and anyone who took Minnesota congrats.

Jets CB Lito Sheppard (quadricep) .. DOUBTFUL
Jets WR Jerricho Cotchery (hamstring) .. QUESTIONABLE

Cotchery is Jets #1 receiver, with 23 of Jets 63 catches and praticed with an injured hamstring practiced with the team Thursday, but sat out Friday and Saturday.

Joey Porter, of Miami, who sat out last week in the win vs. the bills practiced all week and is listed as questionable for this game.

I do expect Cotchery and Porter to both play this game, but it looks as though Porter is recovering from his injury while Cotchery is at the beginning stages, and if he does play I expect less looks his way. Especially with newly aquired Braylon Edwards, though I do not expect him and rookie quarterback Mark Sanchez to be insync right from the get-go. They looked fine together in practice, but it is a much different situation once gametime comes; especially in a hostile environment on MNF, like at division rivals Miami.

I expect a heavy run game from Miami, but I do also expect the Jets to produce a heavier run game than past weeks. These teams know that this will be a grind 'em out game all day, and this should come down to the end, where I expect Miami to edge out the visiting Jets.

Miami will also be getting back LB Akin Ayodele (back) and DE Phillip Merling (ankle) this week, while S Kerry Rhodes (knee), T Damien Woody (foot) are both listed as questionable for the Jets, and both had limited practiced this week.

If either selection wins I profit on the night, but I expect and hope that both win.

Re: Football Winners - Turning 25,000$ into 100,000$

James, with the money made this weekend my bankroll is up to 139 thousand. All of my wagers are 1-5% of my bankroll.

Playing more aggressive than usual, have had more 3-5% wagers then usual, typically I bet 1% on 75% of wagers, but no I am not being STUPID aggressive. A good kind of agressive to reach my goal by january, so I can move to Las Vegas in the new year.

Thanks and gl
Mate, if you are at 139k, you over reached your goal!! :) what's your next goal then? why you are not updating your total bank-roll in your posts? :) Keep up the awesome job!@
