Honestly? I think no one.

Lebron/Kobe/Howard

Maybe Duncan can squeeze out one last MVP. The Spurs would have to be at the top though...but it's possible.

That should be your last post in this thread. The Spurs are one of the main title contenders this year. Did you look at their off season additions?

Tough to pick someone not on the all star team. I like the Durant pick.

Maybe Manu or Josh Howard.
Arenas could go off.
Never know what Vince might do on Orlando.
I notice Carmello wasn't on the All Star team. That is a major possibility. Actually, is that true? mello didn't make the all star team?

kinger, think outside the box big guy!

lol I'm being realistic. No possible way any other player besides the ones I mentioned will win MVP this year.

I've called the MVP winner the last 3 years in a row - I have Integrity as proof.

And he's starting this season fresh. In past seasons he hasn't taken the summer off. He's played on the German National team and has done other things. This year he took time off and he's looking very fresh.

I would take -200 odds on LeBron/Kobe winning it this year again and anyone else can have the rest of the field. Just really no chance unless one of these guys gets hurt and the other struggles a bit.

Howard is a guy I can see maybe winning it, but unless he starts averaging 25/15 and he gets Orlando to push for a 1 seed I don't see it. LeBron will average 30 pts, 7 ast, 7 reb. How can you not give the MVP award to those numbers??

Last year Howard set himself up for consideration this year. He really put his team on the map so he's someone who can gather more votes this year. But yes, absolutely agree with your first point.

Re: Who could win the NBA MVP That was not on the All Star Team in 2009?

Hard to argue with the Kobe/Lebron talk..

I love Howard and think he will be in the mix.

I however, also think Durant CAN win this year. Kinger knows how much I hyped Howard last year and he had a big year. BUT, he still did not win it.

It's likely that Durant sets himself up this year for next year...

The way I see Durant winning this year is if OKC is a 6 seed or better and the Lakers and Cavs don't totally dominate the reg season because they are tryin' to stay fresh for the post-season, and thus, a star like Durant emerges and captures the award

No way Durant wins, IMO. But yeah, he can maybe set himself up this year. But even if Durant had a great season - he still wouldn't win. These writers/broadcasters who vote are dicks. He'd get a few votes from some rogue voters but that's it.

Re: Who could win the NBA MVP That was not on the All Star Team in 2009?

Gilbert has about a 250-1 chance, stop kidding yourself Mo. Even if he leads the league in points scored they still aren't even going to consider him unless he suddenly starts playing defense and rebounding too, plus gets enough help to make his team an over 50 game winner. Wait make that 500-1. Same reason why Durant is nothing more than a sexy longshot pick. Voters are all tied up on this did his team win thing now, how else could people in early September say Derek Jeter was a better choice for MVP than Joe Mauer?
