I don't understand the fascination with Walters, he doesn't reveal his sides, even if you think you know, you could be wrong. So what if he makes a fortune or loses his ass - either way it won't affect me. I guess the image that it's possible to make big money gambling gives 99% of the rest of us hope, but that hope is nothing but a dream IMO.

I think a lot of times people confuse 'greatness' with press coverage. Also, when people say a person or athlete is 'overrated' that is supposed to be a knock on that player's talent, when in reality, it should be a knock on the reporters and general public who treat that person as a god.
By definition, a player for the Yankees or Red Sox is going to be 'overrated' and a player for the Royals or Pirates is going to be 'underrated'. This 'rating' system is just media hype and general public not giving the 'smaller market' people (for lack of bettor words) enough credit for being really good at what they do also.
Walters might not be good at actual nuts and bolts old fashioned handicapping and if you took away all his spreadsheets and employees, he might get destroyed. So, in the true handicapping sense, he's probably JAG (just another guy). What Walters is great at is finding a way to take just a normal guy's handicapping talent and turn it into a computer large money empire. So, while he's overrated as a nuts and bolts guy, he's incredibly underrated as a guy who isnt a phenominal handicapper who has found a way to be the most feared man in sportsbetting.
