Those L.A. Dodgers might have

Is it possible that the LA dodgers could have both
the Cy young pitcher
and the MVP player
That is amazing for a team that never really was in the playoff hunt.

The ESPN Predictor has both of them at the top of each award. I hope it doesn't happen... they would riot in the LA Streets... they finally win something.

Why would Braun deserve the MVP when Kemp's clearly had a better season?

Please don't say because Braun's on a playoff team and Kemp's not. :shoot:

The MLB may have to find a way to give other guys the awards--- can't let McCourt have a claim that he's not hurting the team :LMAO

king - i am actually a long time doyers' famn i just hate the owner

you don't want me to say it but i will. it is easier to put up monster numbers when the last meaningful game you played was Opening Day. Kemp didn't have to worry about playoff pressure he could just go out there and play all loose and free. Braun's team had 162 meaningful games and if he went 0-4 and the team lost it mattered. every single one of Braun's ABs meant something. he had more pressure on him and he delivered. Kemp was the most outstanding offensive player. Braun was the most VALUABLE player. w/o him the brewskies might not have made the playoffs. w/o kemp the dodgers wouldn't have made the playoffs, too. oh, wait - they didn'y. Braun is my MVP

Thank god Le Wink doesn't get a vote

let's go back to 1988. kirk gibson won it with numbers nowhere near as good as darryl strawberry but gibson meant more to the doyers and deservedly won it even though straw had better numbers. kemp might have better numbers but braun was more valuable to his team than kemp was to his. without kemp the doyers fall from 3rd to maybe 4th - big deal. w/o braun the brewskies probably don't make the playoffs. BIGGER deal. braun was more VALUABLE to his team

Absurd.

MVP = best player. Period. The player who performs the best offers the most value to his team.

You're penalizing Kemp because his teammates are inferior to Braun's. That's just silly. Put Kemp on a team with Greinke, Gallardo, Marcum, Fielder, Weeks and he's in the playoffs right now, too.

Take away those players from Milwaukee, and instead replace them with Billingsley, Lilly, Kuroda, Loney, Miles and let's see Braun lead his team to the playoffs.

Value is value. Doesn't matter if it comes on a 110 win team or a 60 win team. The player who performs the best naturally offers the most value. Kemp was better than Braun. He put up better numbers, and he did so against much tougher pitching (NL Central is the worst pitching division in baseball) and despite playing half his games in an extreme pitchers' park (while Braun teed off in one of the premier hitting parks in the game). Kemp plays a much more important defensive position, and he's a much better defensive player than Braun to begin with.

Kemp was the best player (MVP) by a wide margin.

we have no argument kemp was the BEST player

but he was NOT the MOST VALUABLE!!!!!!!!

there is a MASSIVE difference between the 2 and thankfully the voters will realize i am right and vote braun the MVP

Re: Those L.A. Dodgers might have

How is the best player not the most valuable?

So Braun is more valuable because he has better teammates? He's more valuable because his team has Prince playing 1B instead of Loney? Doesn't even come close to making sense.

For a guy who claims to be so intelligent, you're not making yourself look too good here.

But if the team wasnt in the playoffs, how much 'value' can you have?

Value and best are two different things.

A Porsche 911 is a better car than a Toyota Camry, but if you can get 3k 'off' sticker on the Camry, its better 'value' yet not necessarily the better car.

More than Braun.

If Kemp played for Milwaukee this year, and Braun for LAD, the Brewers would be about 2 games better in the standings and LAD would have 2 fewer wins.
