Eye On Gaming is pleased to introduce "The SportsOptions Showdown," a unique event set to debut Friday, January 13.

The weekly handicapping contest will feature Mark Simons, the in-house handicapper at SportsOptions, matched against friends and supporters of EOG in a five-game handicapping competition for a winner-take-all purse of $500.

This weekend's showdown features Simons squaring off against EOG contributor "dsethi," a 27-year-old college hoop handicapper living in the Bay Area.

Invitations to the event will be determined by a panel of EOG staffers including head moderator KingRevolver, new contest coordinator Jack Stewart, executive coordinator EOGMike and yours truly. Each staff member will be asked to publish a list of 12 recommended contestants. Here's a rundown of my dozen invitees: dsethi, Micelli, tripp, brians, gynecologist, railbird, Heim, joeybagofdonuts, jjgold (SBR), Jimmy Shivers (The Rx), Alan Boston and Edward Golden.

"The SportsOptions Showdown" will be presented every Friday night at 10:00 Pacific as part of The EOG Sports Hour, a one-hour radio program dedicated to the hearts and minds of sports bettors everywhere. Past editions of The EOG Sports Hour are available for downloading at www.eogradio.com.

Rick Allec, president of SportsOptions, will appear on tonight's radio program (January 6) to further explain the special promotion, discuss the latest happenings in the worldwide sports betting industry and detail a special offer available to new subscribers of SportsOptions(www.sportsoptions.com), a sports information tool providing the latest pointspreads, lightning-quick score updates and reliable injury information via your computer or mobile device.

Re: Introducing "The SportsOptions Showdown"

Rick mentioned homedog and Pancho Sancha (?) as worthy competitors for Mark Simons.

Pancho is easily one of the sharpest guys on the forums, imo. He has crushed 2nd halves for years over at OGD. Homedog isn't a slouch himself but I doubt either of them would participate, but who knows?

Free shot at $500.

Will you reach out to them, Joey, on behalf of EOG?

Pancho would be worth a lesson. Homedog definitely not.

Never realized dsethi was only 27.

Re: Introducing "The SportsOptions Showdown"

Should be fun to follow. Good luck to all participants.

All we need to do now is get micelli in the eog grand challenge somehow, maybe boot out carolina kid?

I'll also recommend RJT and TN. I don't have to stop @ 12.

Plus, I wanted to recommended guys who haven't already been mentioned by others.

We have a ton of posters who deserve it. :cheers

All i want ever is u you to get Gyno in the ring for me King. One on one. No more of the Ape in hiding shit

Re: Introducing "The SportsOptions Showdown"

I put some guys on my list who have contributed picks faithfully for a long while without much fanfare like Voxbobby and Mark's Moneymakers as well as some guys we haven't heard from in awhile like Bumpy and BeanTown Jim, who is without question the X-rated version of Archie Bunker and would probably be a riot on the radio.

i tried for ya but gyno said he was done with the forums.

Re: Introducing "The SportsOptions Showdown"

Would love to hear Joey on the radio.

As I told JK, I will gladly come on and show off my skills.

I will even do the show with my JJGold voice. Will I be allowed to curse?

We need to get rjt721 involved.

I also appreciate the support of Tomorrow's Newspaper.

If I'm not mistaken, TN is an excellent bowler.
