MLB Network reporting that the Brewers and Twins are the favorites to get Arrieta.

Re: 2017-18 MLB Hot Stove League chatter

Mets signed lefty Jason Vargas to a 2 year deal.

So it's.....

Syndy
DeGrom

Vargas
Matz
Harvey
Wheeler
Gsellman
Lugo

Six dudes for 3 spots. Not countimg on guys coming back from injury. Pretty telling. Mets signing another middle of the class FA.

Still like Over 80 1/2 wins for this team. They had 70 last year. Tons of injuries to the pitching and to conforto and cespedes. Marlins are much worse. John Smoltz was very high on the Mets on MLB network last night. He said they are a 90+ win team. IdK.

Re: 2017-18 MLB Hot Stove League chatter

Who do you think isn’t coming back, Harvey and Wheeler?

I think they're not sure so they are compiling arms to find out. Not taking any chances.

Harvey is in his contract year his second season from Tos surgery. He will never be as dominat as he once was but it's possible he could be adequate. Wheeler's arm has problems. He went for injectioms in his stomach for 6 months to strenghten his bones.

Matz is very fragile.

Lugo has a partial tear in his ucl.

Callaway and eiland along with a new medical staff hopefully helps.

The Brewers better have several long relief specialists. With Nelson likely out for the early part of the season, are they relying on Anderson and Davies to eat up innings?

A flurry of moves yesterday, the biggest being Hosmer signing a 8-year deal with SD. Of course TB in the middle of the moves, cutting payroll along the way.

odorizzi to Minn for SS Jermaine Palacious
Trading for CJ Cron, then DFA Corey Dickerson.

For starters Frank cashen was the gm in 1986 when the Mets won the world series.

Lester loses 1.5 mph off his fastball again this year that contract don't look too good either

No but its the new philosophy of hoping the top half of the contract pays off (which it did). Hopefully he can reinvent himself, Zobrist will be the $16 Mil handyman.

They still got that Montgomery kid. I like him. At least give him a chance.

He didn't have a defined role last year. He should be in the bullpen this year. Of course he wants to start because its his contract year.

Re: 2017-18 MLB Hot Stove League chatter

bookbaker look at the years I was talking about 1997-2010

sad

Kinda harsh to throw Cashen in the mix for being the gm for 8 days in november while Steve Phillips took a leave.

Cashen built the 86 Mets. Probably the best GM the Mets ever had. Probably the best team the Mets ever had as well.

But by all means carry on Top.

Angels continue to add veteran pieces: Chris Young and Chris Carter. They are a great example of what happens to clubs with barren farm systems.

Lester could never pitch again and his contract was a tremendous success. I get you like to start arguments but this one isn’t defendable.
