Best places to eat in Las Vegas, NV

Whether you are searching for a midnight snack, or looking for fare from some of the finest gourmet chefs in the world, Las Vegas is the place to be. While Las Vegas was once known for nothing but cheap all you can eat buffets, now it is home to some of the finest and most delicious food you will find anywhere. The all you can eat buffets are still here, too, but there are many that have gone gourmet, and may not be as cheap anymore.
Let's start with some of the best places to pick up a quick snack. There are many places in Vegas that serve crepes, with both savory and sweet fillings. Some of the best are Jean Phillippe that is both at Bellagio and Aria, and a little shop inside the Paris hotel and casino. If sushi is your preference, try the Coral Reef bar and lounge inside Mandalay Bay.
Perhaps you're looking for something a little more substantial, but still within reasonable prices. In that case, here are a few choices that are both within reason, and delicious. If burgers are your thing, try Cheeseburger Las Vegas inside Planet Hollywood. Here you will find thick, juicy burgers and yummy fries. Just be sure to have a lot of napkins handy. If burgers aren't your thing, any of the 24 hour cafes inside the hotels are good, but the best is the Grand Luxe Cafe in both the Venetian and it's sister hotel, the Palazzo. Here you can find just about anything you want in large portions and at reasonable prices. If you don't mind venturing away from the strip, there is a place called the Black Bear Diner at Tropicana and Decatur. It's a little off the beaten path, but well worth the drive.
Perhaps you're looking for more gourmet fare. Wazuzu at Wynn's Encore hotel is a perfect choice if you like Asian cuisine. Everything on the menu is prepared to perfection. Switch, which is also at the Encore, has a delicious ahi tuna. Stratta, at the Wynn, has a delicious calamari appetizer. If you prefer seafood, Aquaknox at the Venetian is the place to go. Be sure to order the crab cakes because they are delicious. Even Stratosphere gets in on the gourmet act with their Top of the World restaurant. The food here is just ok, but the view is breathtaking.
If you do want one of the buffets that Las Vegas is famous for, you no longer have to settle for half warmed food that tastes like the dishes they serve it in. Dishes buffet at Treasure Island is great for families because they have dinner choices like sushi, prime rib and pasta, then you can top off your meal with a delicious dessert including mini doughnuts made right before your eyes, hand dipped chocolate bananas and strawberries, and who can forget fresh cotton candy for both the young and the young at heart. If you prefer a more gourmet dinner, then try the Bellagio, Aria or Wynn buffets. All three serve delicious Alaskan King Crab legs, that are already split open, giving you easy access to the tender insides. Prime rib is also standard fare at all three of these buffets, as is sushi.
No matter what your tastes, or your budget, you are sure to find something delicious to eat in Las Vegas.

On the Boulder strip the buffet at Sams Town is much improved since they got a new GM that takes a personal interest in the food. Lots of healthy stuff and reasonably priced for breakfast, lunch and dinner--and the chocolate mousse cake is worth the price of admission.

What s the best NY style deli that is either in a casino or outside a casino. Will be in LV and would love a good corn beef or pastrami stacked high. Thanks

circus circus steakhouse and the Rio buffett international

The Rio buffet is excellent, though I still give the edge to the Bellagio buffet. The Circus Circus steakhouse is possibly one of the most underrated in the world. The Las Vegas locals all know about it and for good reason. Just an excellent 'old school' steakhouse. I still eat there often and in a town with as many good steak places as Las Vegas that's saying something.

Love the Carnegie Deli in the Mirage for some of the biggest sammiches you've seen in your life...

Like the hot fudge sundae at McDonalds. Also, not a restaurant but for the best milk shake like to get Dreyers slow churned chocolate ice cream, let it melt and then drink it like a milk shake. Very, very good!

I don't know if I'd come to Las Vegas just to go to a Mickey D's but their hot fudge sundae is an underrated delicacy ;-)

Capital Grille in Fashion Show has impeccable service, is open during the business lunch hour, which always isn't the case for top tier Las Vegas restaurants in the casinos, and is a great place to just drop in for a meal at the bar without reservations if you're shopping at Fashion Show (I'm not a Sugar Daddy, just a Sweet and Low Daddy). The Stoli Doli's will kick your butt.

Sinatra's in Encore also is a great place for a drop-in meal at the bar, with great Italian (ya' think?) cuisine, if you're winging it without reservations. Think the specialty drink there is called a Sinatra Smash, made with fresh blackberries. Styling in the place also gives the feeling of being in a film noire movie, especially as the shadows get longer in a summer evening sitting.

Charlie Palmer's Steakhouse at the Four Seasons (housed within Mandalay) also hits the spot with impeccable service.

SW Steakhouse in the Wynn is another one of my drop-in and eat at the bar outs if I'm making last minute plans for a bite with a date (happens occasionally, i.e, as in actually having a date).

Ah, but to be back in New Orleans with Galatoire's, Commander's Palace (which also used to have a restaurant here), the Bon Ton Cafe (crawfish etoufee that will . . . ), and the Windsor Court's Grille Room. You won't go hungry in either city looking for fine restaurants.
