Casinos reopening: Are you back to casinos or playing from home?

Casino numbers are relatively good outside of Vegas and other overnight stay casino markets. People just aren't getting on planes yet, that's pretty much 95% of the story.

true... wow 95% air ...you know this better than me... your info is solid all the time

Gaming revenues in Ohio and Maryland were up this July versus July last year. Just two I have heard of off the top of my head, there will be others. I'm sure some other midwestern markets will see the same. Obviously New Jersey won't see that Mr. Top, but at least you got crazy increases in sports betting and online gaming.

Just took a trip to north dakota, where they have gambling in the bars, zero covid restrictions there, no masks, no plexiglass shields, packed, tables. it was quite enjoyable, very busy too.

Went into IP Biloxi for the first time. Walk in the front door seems like it might be a decent enough place....go to the casino area and it feels like old Vegas-IP...not in a good way.
I think I saw about $300 a night this weekend for a room..... pass

Don't let these sources fool you. Seems to be stuck on 25% capacity here since casinos opened over 6 weeks ago here in the northeast. Also, poker rooms are still closed and behind the scenes I consider it permanent, though executives won't tell the public that. Not a good sign considering Vegas started out 5 handed with divisional plexiglass that has since increased to as much as 8 handed. Oh well, it was fun while it lasted.

Four Winds New Buffalo is closing the Hard Rock Cafe on Halloween. I haven’t been to any casinos since the reopening, but the atmosphere isn’t good at any of them.

I was at Rivers Pittsburgh today to cash some old tickets. Granted, it was a Saturday afternoon in the summer, but it was as dead as I've ever seen it.

Do you have to wear masks, are the bars and restaurants open? Not hard to see why people dont go, i drive all the way to iowa to gamble normally. when there's 5 casinos much closer.

Poker rooms mean absolutely nothing to casino bottom lines. They only care about the slots and those are racking up revenues.

Until they reopen unfortunately I have no reason to return unless I get an inkling to fly out west. They must mean something to other markets if they've reopened with safety measures in place and 7-8 players max at a table, even at the very least of properties and players permitting.

not really the masks. It is the threat , real or not of getting sick along with money.

Everyone, employees and patrons, must wear a mask to get in at Rivers (Pittsburgh). Some restaurants open. I didn't check the bars. I don't drink when I gamble.

it is a smaller % true but people do spend money once inside the casino on food & drink too.

Can't really do that much at the moment in most markets.

I'm not trying to take a position on what games people should play or what strategy they should follow. I'm just relaying the message I have heard in calls and meetings at casinos the past three weeks. They are so focused on getting profitable and opening up what they can. Slots drive the bus, we all know that and since they do it at highest margin the casino management is relatively pleased.

Point understood. However here it has been 7 weeks that the casinos are open, and longer in the Vegas area. Infections and cases have been at their lowest for quite sometime now and there's no talk of even indoor dining nor poker even commencing yet. How many weeks could you remain in phase 1? Our mayors and governors have stressed social distancing. Other markets have plexi glass between chairs and are practicing limiting dining indoors with distance in between.

restaurants open in NYC & NJ , but you have to eat outside. They have tents , tables/chairs , liquor served outside. Masks not needed when eating food or drinking outside.

Governor Cuomo seems to act like he won't open casinos ever again even though he cant stop the tribes from opening. Plus his chief of staff absolutely won't budge on allowing mobile sports betting. These aren't policy issues driven by health or even data, but by politics. PA needs the tax revenue, they collect more of it from gaming than anyone including Nevada. They opened pretty early. NY rakes in lots of gaming tax too but it's a small percentage of the total budget so gaming, it's workers and it's customers, get totally screwed.

If you do hit a big score, don't just cash and head to the parking lot. Either go to eat, go to the bar and hang out for a bit. Don't make it extra easy for those up to no good. And nothing wrong with a security escort to the car.

I think a good security measure is to have the staff move your car to the valet area and have security escort you out when ready.

The bigger worry is people getting followed home. Happens in Vegas way too often. I know people love to have cash but for a big score send it to a bank account or just take a check.

Recently i was exiting the casino and walking across the parking lot - 2 black guys came up to me and asked if I would drive them to a gas station on the corner - perhaps 3/4ths of a mile away, they looked like total ghetto thugs(didn't act that way), i declined.
