Pro Bowl Returns to CBS for First Time in 35 Years as CBS Sports Set to Broadcast Game from Honolulu for Ninth Time in Network's History

Highlighted by Super Bowl XLI on February 4, 2007 from Miami, and the return of the Pro Bowl to CBS for the first time in 35 years from Honolulu, Hawaii on February 10, the CBS Television Network announces its 2006 NFL broadcast schedule.
The CBS Television Network will broadcast a total of 111 games during its 17 weeks of regular-season coverage of the NFL's American Football Conference. The regular-season schedule is followed by a full post-season slate including an AFC Wild Card playoff game on January 7, 2007, two divisional playoff games on January 13 and January 14, the AFC Championship game on January 21 and Super Bowl XLI on February 4. CBS Sports' coverage of Super Bowl XLI marks the 16th time the Network has broadcast the Super Bowl with the last being 2004 when the New England Patriots defeated the Carolina Panthers in Houston, Texas.
In addition, for the first time since 1972, CBS Sports will broadcast the Pro Bowl from Honolulu, Hawaii for only the ninth time in the history of the CBS Television Network on February 10.
THE NFL ON CBS kicks off Week 1 with singleheader coverage on Sunday, Sept. 10 (12:00 Noon-7: 00 PM, ET) beginning with THE NFL TODAY, the Network's pre-game studio show. The day's NFL action is highlighted by Denver and St. Louis, as well as Cincinnati taking on Kansas City, Baltimore at Tampa Bay, Buffalo at New England and the New York Jets taking on Tennessee as part of THE NFL ON CBS's regional coverage, live on the CBS Television Network.
The Network's 2006 broadcast schedule, which includes nine doubleheader weekends, features the Super Bowl Champion Pittsburgh Steelers, Denver Broncos and Oakland Raiders 10 times each; the New England Patriots and Indianapolis Colts 11 times each; the Cincinnati Bengals, Kansas City Chiefs, Baltimore Ravens, Miami Dolphins and San Diego Chargers 12 times each; the New York Jets, Cleveland Browns and Jacksonville Jaguars 13 times each; and the Buffalo Bills, Houston Texans and Tennessee Titans 14 times each.
Key AFC match-ups include a rematch of the AFC Championship game, Denver at Pittsburgh (11/5), Indianapolis at Denver (10/29), Cincinnati at Pittsburgh (9/24), Cincinnati at Denver (12/24), as well as near-weekly AFC Eastern and Western Division battles with New England, Buffalo, New York Jets and Miami, and San Diego, Oakland, Kansas City and Denver, respectively.
Other notable games include a Thanksgiving Day (11/23) contest between Miami at Detroit, interconference match-ups featuring Pittsburgh at Atlanta (10/22), Pittsburgh at Carolina (12/17), a Christmas Eve day game of San Diego at Seattle (12/24), a Texas-sized game between Houston and Dallas (10/15), a Bay Bridge match-up with Oakland at San Francisco (10/8), as well as Buffalo at Chicago (10/8), New York Jets at Green Bay (12/3), Houston at New York Giants (11/5) and Jacksonville at Washington (10/1).
CBS Sports' NFL pre-season schedule begins Friday, Aug. 11 (8:00 PM, ET), live in prime time with the New England Patriots against the Atlanta Falcons. The Network's second pre-season game on Friday, Aug. 18 (8:00 PM, ET) sees the San Diego Chargers take on the Chicago Bears; and its third game will pit the Tampa Bay Buccaneers against the Jacksonville Jaguars live on Saturday, Aug. 26 (8:00 PM, ET)
Jim Nantz, who will call play-by-play for Super Bowl XLI for the first time in his career, is joined by Phil Simms as the lead announce team for the Network's coverage of the NFL.
THE NFL TODAY, CBS Sports' NFL pre-game, halftime and post-game studio show, begins on Sunday, Sept. 10 (12:00 Noon-1: 00 PM, ET) with host James Brown returning to CBS Sports as the host of the Network's pre-game show. Brown will be joined by analysts Dan Marino, Boomer Esiason and Shannon Sharpe.
