Early Pick 5 at Del Mar on Sunday should hit 4 million

True. You need a solid singleton. I won't be greedy and ask for two.

I think the fourth race has the potential singleton candidate.

probably will hit 4 million which would mean no overlay

these tracks clean up on these. They love the carryovers.

NYRA crooks hike the takeout even more for carryover days which is rather absurd because they already took over 20% from the money that was bet in the first place

For Del Mar, I believe the takeout is the same as other days.

Just speaking in general about the horizontals because Belmont Aqueduct and Saratoga increase the takeout

It would be interesting to look at the most crooked tracks.

I think Los Al is up there with their scratching of show betting on way too many races.

I got a list of interesting races yesterday (with some sort of negative pool for the track, I believe), but I don't know how/where to look at pools from previous days to try to figure out exactly why they were negative for the track.

Monmouth: Race 1, Race 6, Race 12

Delmar: Race 10

Saratoga: Race 2

Arlington: Race 7

Louisiana: Race 3

Cal Fair/Ferndale: Race 1

Los Al: Race 6

Ruidoso: Race 12

Woodbine: Race 1

Finger Lakes: Race 4, Race 7

Delaware: Race 1, Race 7

Thistledowns: Race 7

Penn Nat. : Race 8

Indiana: Race 2, Race 3

Charlestown: Race 1, Race 3, Race7

Albuquerque: Race 1

Assiniboa: Race 3

Anyone else have any guidance on this sequence? I don't play DM much. Which races are total spreads? Has the track been favoring speed?

The pool wound up over $5 million. Will post final numbers.

RE: crooked tracks

Finger Lakes, Cal Expo (harness) and Los Alamitos are three that come to mind.

Horse racing is a very crooked industry to begin with. The NYRA is run by scum.

Pick-5

5,056,660

That was the new money.

Carryover was 785,777 so total pool was $5,842,437

I believe the takeout on the p5 is still 14% which would mean the track kept roughly 817941 for themselves, making it a -EV wager.

Still, as people post every time, it's unusual to be able to bet at close to breakeven in horse racing.

Van Dyke won every race he had a mount in Pick 5, 4 for 4. ....I singled the human anchor Gonzalez in R2. He is the worst finisher in all of racing, if he is in a stretch duel, throw your ticket on the ground and walk away.

PICK 5 4/6/6/5/6,12-14 18,748.00 ????

That's a $2 payout. The $.50 Pick 5 paid $4,687.........the scratch of the #6 at the gate in the 5th was extremely costly if you had the 12 who went favored and won the last leg.

Sorry to hear it, Joe.

I just watched the replay of Del Mar's second race.

The more Gonzalez asked, the less the horse gave.

Heartfullofstars covered the final eighth of a mile in a pedestrian 13.22 seconds.

That's a candidate for "The Day I'll Never Forget" feature in Horse Racing Digest.

Wait, there is no such publication.
