The Cornhuskers are playing a fast-paced brand of basketball over the past month or so.

Head coach Fred Hoiberg encourages his team to rebound and run.

Northwestern is hoping to finish the Big Ten season with three straight conference wins after opening the season with three straight conference victories.

NU head coach Chris Collins would like to forget about the 13-game losing streak sandwiched between the modest winning streaks.

As an underdog in a powerful conference, Collins wisely tries to shorten games with longer possessions.

But today, as a 7-point home favorite, Collins should instruct his team to push the pace.

Slow starts are a problem which has depressed NU's scoring output over the past two games.

The Wildcats managed only 10 points over the first 10 minutes of their last game against Maryland and only six points over the first 10 minutes in their previous game against Minnesota.

If the Cats break cleanly from the gate today, expect Northwestern and Nebraska to each score more than 70 points today.

Why play a slow, low-scoring game in a meaningless contest on the final day of the Big Ten regular season?

Un-freaking-real. When I last checked the score, JMU was up by 12 and holding their own pretty well with 12 minutes to go. I check now and JMU lost at the very end, 72-71.

I haven't caught a win in weeks. I guess the gambling gods are ticked at me or something. Thank goodness for Tennessee and the Nebraska Over, or this would have been a depressing day.
