In hindsight it was a bad idea to go into Iraq. But remember all leading democrats voted to approve the war. No war ever goes as planned but this one needed years of steady oversight if it was to succeed. We built a huge base in Balad Iraq so we could stage operations in the future. It was going to take a leader and diplomat to get use of it for decades to come. Elections have consequences and we lost the war. Its hard to win a war when our leaders want to lose.

They have been fighting over there for over a 1000 years.Do you really think the Sunni's and Shite's are going to start getting along now because we told them too?They will continue to fight each other and it is a war that never will be ''won'' and they are never going to want us to be over there.

I guess the only way to define victory would be if we had the ability to use the base we built for many decades to operate out of. That base was strategically located for that purpose. Maybe the other way to define victory was the ability to put in a puppet dictator to do our bidding. Once Maliki knew he couldn't count on us he looked elsewhere. Putin is now in his corner. The vacuum from our weakness will kill millions in the years to come.

There was no al Sham [ISIS] or al Qaeda in Iraq before the war.The vacuum we created is being filled by our actions.These terrorist groups over there now make Saddam look like a Boy Scout.
We can't afford to be the world's policemen.
Obama is in over his head on this and our Foreign Policy is the worst I have ever seen but this was a bad deal from day 1.Really a no win situation from the start.

More Monday morning quarterbacking. Every intelligence agency and every politician told us he had weapons of mass destruction. He used chemical weapons against the Kurds. Bush had the UN approval to go to war. He had every democrat begging for a chance to vote yes. If Bush had not acted and something happened you would have been the first to say why didn't he act!!! He was also the guy passing out soccer balls and welcoming the immigrants on the border. A sane person would have helped escort them on buses going back to their families in the countries they left.
