Paraphrasing Alan Boston...

I'm a thinker, not a computer guy.

That's why I thought COVID was good for me.

It was about solving puzzles and I'm good at solving puzzles.

But I wasn't that good at this COVID handicapping.

Longshot contender for the NCAA tourney: West Virginia.

Bob Huggins is special.

Houston is crazy good, too.

Alan is a big Brad Underwood fan.

He also likes Fran McCaffery because he's a UPenn guy.

Then, Boston says he's only kidding.

Loyola-Chicago is the dream team for basketball purists.

They play defense like no other team.

The Ramblers don't make any mistakes.

Do you believe in any of the SEC teams?

Alabama and Tennessee are "awesome."

However, an intelligent team can outsmart Rick Barnes and Tennessee.

Alabama can win the whole thing.

Needs 20/1 to win it all.

When asked about teams that can pull upsets in the NCAA tourney:

The final four teams of the C-USA tournament was impressive.

Boston mentions Colgate as a possible live underdog in the first round of the NCAA tournament.

Cleveland State's head coach (Dennis Gates) is outstanding.

Borderline coach of the year.

Seems like Alan does a lot of handicapping through coach's press conferences.

Podcast was recorded Friday.

When asked for selections, Alan listed:

Akron +4 over Buffalo

NMSU -5.5

Iona -5

Cal-Irvine in a Pick over Riverside is like stealing.

Gave a big push to Irvine, as Woodrow Wilson mentioned.

And now the Tark insult comes.

"After 21 days with the Spurs, the players went to ownership and said, 'Get this guy (Tarkanian) out of here. He knows nothing about basketball.'"

Drexel is no good, says Alan.

Some Drexel guy let Alan make selections for the CAC tournament for at least the second straight year in "Always a Dragon." Alan picked against Drexel every game and went 0-3. Wonder if he will be back picking next year. FWIW, Drexel was one the better cover teams this season.

In case you missed it.

Too funny.

very suprised he likes Iona. He hates Pitino and those personal biases usually dictate his take on a game. Maybe his love of mid majors overides that in this situation.

Long Live Wilson!
Viet Nam said they did well by mandating Covid patients to be super quarantined in government hospitals only. They really did shut down the country in a lot of ways. People from the USA are stuck there for a while.

As far as China / not sure we should trust their stats? # 86 in the world with 90,000 cases of covid 19. America has had 30 million. China has 1.4 billion people and America has , what ? 330 million population. How can that stat be possible?

Viet Nam has a population of 97 million and

They had 2500 cases with only 35 deaths. So, either those stats are bad or America lost a lot of people of people in comparison.
And China had over 80k cases before any other country had 1k I believe. Something isn't adding up and like dell is saying, why no talk about that in the media? No one curious about what china's secret is?

He says Calipari is a straight shooter and he loves him, then a minute later he says Calipari is a con.

His take on Vegas now and the way it was when he arrived 35 years ago was spot on.

Alan is a walking contradiction.

One season, he talked about Long Beach State head coach Wayne Morgan.

He said Morgan was a genius.

Morgan then left Long Beach, California for Ames, Iowa.

Shortly thereafter, Morgan took over the Iowa State program.

Alan was then asked to critique Wayne Morgan's coaching abilities.

Alan said of Morgan, "The guy's an idiot."

You can't make it up.

That said, Alan makes for great radio.

Fast-talking, entertaining and highly-opinionated.

Unfortunately, none of those traits wins at odds of 11/10.

Measured gamblers full of insight are the ones who win.

Some fraud....he missed one. Wichita State which he had out.

And yet Alan thought Memphis had a chance for a bid until the local hosts straightened him out.

In Alan's defense, Memphis is a #1 seed in the NIT this season.

Alan's biases need to graded before they can be deciphered.

DIOGENES hits a winning note here.

Mr.Morgan was very sensitive when pressed on his team difficulties against match up zones.

Its Dvorkis that is the fraud.

My favorite tournament story is the Stardust Line radio show, going back to 2003, hosted by JK with Dvorkis and Dave Cokin. Discussion of the possibilities for Coach Boeheim's Syracuse Orange featuring Carmelo Anthony, Hakim Warrick and guard Gerry McNamara . Cokin thought they might go far, Dvorkis, displaying all his drug-induced bias in full glory, comes over the top saying "they can't play a lick". Says he'll buy Cokin a free lunch every week for life if Syracuse does well (or wins it all, I can't remember).

Remind me, who was right? ;)

Good memory, Bob.

I think Cokin is still waiting for his first lunch, compliments of Alan Boston.

Carmelo was a budding star at Syracuse.

He could really hit the glass on both ends of the floor.

And Syracuse had a long defender at the top of the zone named Kueth Duany.

Duany was perfect for Boeheim's zone because he disrupted the opposition offense.

Duany was from Sudan and he looked like it.
