It’s on: Palin vs Pelosi

If Nancy Pelosi isn’t taking a day off on her quest to have government run the health care industry, neither will Sarah Palin in her quest to stop ObamaCare. Using her Facebook platform, Palin reminded her followers what the Pelosi plan means for health care, small business, unemployment, and personal choice (via The Corner):
How much will this bill cost us? It’s unclear because the figures coming out of Washington keep changing – and always in the direction of costing more, not less. The latest numbers show it will cost more than a trillion dollars over the decade, but when has a government program ever come in on or under budget?

How will we pay for it? Taxes, of course – and not just on the “rich” (you know, the people who spur the economy by buying goods and running companies that employ people), but also on just about everyone, especially small businesses – the job-creating engine of our economy. One of the points of health care reform was to help small businesses with the cost, but this bill hurts them – and right at a time when so many Americans are out of work and need the jobs that small businesses produce.

What’s in this bill? The “death panel” provision is in it. Medicare cuts are in it. Coverage of illegal immigrants is in it. And federal funding for abortion is in it. I commend the many Republicans and Blue Dog Democrats who are taking a principled stance to fight this.
:+excited-

Critics will howl over the “death panel” reference, but Pelosi still has the Comparative Effectiveness Panel in the bill. The language establishing it takes up 22 pages of the bill (pages 739-760), and it does include experts on “health economics”. It doesn’t explicitly give government the power to dictate treatments — in fact, it does explicitly say that federal officers cannot dictate them — but findings by this panel will be used as baselines for payment by insurers, including the federal government, when it comes to deciding what options for treatment are available to whom. After all, comparative effectiveness is explicitly a rationing process. If it’s in the bill, it means that Pelosi plans on cost savings through rationing, which is really no surprise at all.

Palin also does well by hammering on the unemployment news from yesterday. This bill will not alleviate health-care costs for smaller businesses, the engine of new job growth. In fact, it will create a larger burden through mandates and new taxes, especially for small business owners who file taxes as individuals rather than corporations. They will have to pay excise taxes to fund ObamaCare, and the mandates will make small business owners think twice before expanding their labor force.

Pelosi proved Palin correct today in retreating before the Blue Dogs howling over abortion. Will the Blue Dogs stop howling after the Stupak amendment vote, or will they represent their constituents who oppose a government-run heath-insurance scheme and the infringement of their personal choices?

Update: I forgot to put this chart into the post from the Republicans on the Joint Committee for Taxation, which Palin linked in her Facebook statement. Click to enlarge (via Power Line):

I can't stand either so hopefully we will seed a good old fashioned duel from 15 feet.If you think Obama is a liar then he is small compared to Pelosi.I just read a article last night where she is promising the Hispanic caucus that illegals will be covered but then they caught her telling everyone else that they would not be covered.

The illegals will not be covered! That will be passed somewhere later. All illegals will be "grandfathered", Amnestied, or otherwise made into legal citizens with a gun to their heads that if Dems do not stay in, the "next Bush" will not only strip them of their citizens rights to vote, but deport them! They will be another Dem voting block getting full health care with all of their exotic diseases they will bring in with them as legal citizens. Therefore; no illegals will get free health care except for a temporary period until they are made legal.

They are already getting free healthcare along with millions of others.

My, my....what a potty mouth you have against a girl you do not know. If another baby happens, she will be in the same boat as about 50% of the countries girls and 76% of some of the minority communities girls.

Why single her out? Why the big hate against a young girl?

No one hit on the Kennedy's out of wedlock births or abortions.

My God daughter, Jamie, got married to some trash, got two kids, and is stuck in a dead end life. I tried my best to help her out before this. I gave her a car to attend school with her titution paid in Wis. I moved her out of her destructive home county down to Florida where I got her a good job and a promise of tuition at the local community college next semester. It was not enough. Her mother called telling her she "needed her" so God daughter went back to Wis and fell into the wrong crowds, got married and is stuck. I am trying to pay to get her a divorce from the CA absent father, but she wants to sit on her hands on the matter.

Except for the signing a marriage certificate, Jamie is in a worse boat that any Palin girl. Single mom, for all purposes. No child support.

I cannot think of how I could have helped her more while she was in Florida.

Speaker Pelosi: Your Blue Dogs are Howling

From Facebook

Like many Americans, I’m very concerned about the efforts underway to rush through the 2,000 page Pelosi health care bill this weekend. Why the rush? That’s a lot of pages to read. Why not give everyone the chance to read it and debate it?

I had a message for Speaker Pelosi in a speech I gave last night for the Wisconsin Right to Life – “please, please don’t break the ‘transparency promise’ by prohibiting at least a vote of your colleagues on funding abortion-on-demand.”

Speaker Pelosi has already broken many promises thus far in this “reform” exercise. She promised that this would be a bi-partisan effort, but the bill she’s pushing isn’t bi-partisan. She promised that the final version of the bill would be posted online 72 hours before it comes to a vote so that the American people could clearly see what’s in it and how we will pay for it. But she broke that promise too when she decided to rush the bill to a vote this weekend.

The speaker must be held accountable for her broken promises. Now is the time for Americans who believe in the free market and who believe that we need policies that promote job growth instead of job loss to say once and for all, “Enough!” Stand up and make your voices heard before it’s too late. Call and email your representatives and tell them to vote “no” on Pelosi’s train wreck of a health care bill, or else we will vote “no” to sending them back to Washington when we go to the polls in less than 12 months.

- Sarah Palin

PS: For an idea of the bureaucratic maze that the Pelosi bill would create, take a look at this new chart put out by the Joint Economic Committee.

No hate at all, brother

Just a rueful shake of the head that her mother is so busy quitting her professional commitments that she's unable to keep adult men from coming into her house and impregnating her 16 year old daughter....not once...but twice.

Sad times when parents condone statutory rape of their own children in their own home.
