DraftKings and the Detroit Pistons recently announced a deal making the sports betting operator the NBA team’s official partner before DraftKings’ launch in Michigan.

The Pistons have drafted eight players who went on to achieve Hall-of-Fame status.

1959 - Bailey Howell

1962 - Dave DeBusschere

1966 - Dave Bing

1970 - Bob Lanier

1981 - Isiah Thomas

1985 - Joe Dumars

1985 - Dennis Rodman

1994 - Grant Hill

Since selecting Darko Milicic with the #2 overall selection in 2003, the Pistons have performed poorly with top 10 draft picks including Greg Monroe at #7 in 2010, Brandon Knight at #8 in 2011, Andre Drummond at #9 in 2012, Kentavious Caldwell-Pope at #8 in 2013, Stanley Johnson at #8 in 2015 and Killian Hayes at #7 in 2020.

always good news when another state jumps in. I hope by later this year NJ kicks off the first exchange.

It is hard to believe that in less than 6 hours, the sportsbooks will be open in MI. I cannot believe all the advertising that has been shown on all channels. Bet MGM, Draft Kings, all the players.

Have we established the best books to use. Looking for one or 2 like 5Dimes or as close as possible. And not interested in bonuses. Just want to make a few bets on various nights without all the bonus bullshit that comes along with it.

I agree....the bonus's are just advertising gimmicks. Is there book that you have been specifically looking at?

my buddy Spartan Mike logged onto Bet MGM, says it is very busy looking, not plain and simple like Circa and William Hill. Right now the site is crashing too.

You could easily build up a 5k bankroll with maybe a 1k no-risk investment taking advantage of all the bonuses. If the bonuses required the offshore type rollovers and all I would be with you, but biggest rollover I have seen here was 1x of the bonus amount, its pretty simple stuff. Yeah its a bit of work but these sign up bonuses are a gold mine and I would maximize them for any book you choose to use. Start with the books that offer a deposit match, then move onto the risk free bets and use existing book balances to hedge. In 2 months you could have 6 or 7 books funded with all your money back, then you can easily shop lines and always get good prices including regular giveaways and boosts. As others have said its really hard to lose money at least for now betting at these books in Colorado and I think Michigan has it even better.

If you take advantages of all the bonus ii's almost impossible to lose your 1st year. It's not like the offshore bonuses where you have 14x rollover and all that BS. They're pretty straightforward and very easy.

I have FD...check out the odds boost bet Pistons to score 10 or more points in the 1Q,

Yeah the FD boosts are pretty ridiculous in the early days. Wait until they have a move the line bonus based on how many bets are placed. You'll end up with something like Chiefs +150 points in the Super Bowl with a $50 max bet. So its basically going to be like $45 of free money, no rollover or anything, just a no lose bet and you get paid after the game.

I agree with my buddy, Bet MGM is too busy. I wish they were all like Circa or William Hill, non glorified and no bling.

MGM has some positives like if their line hasn't changed you can cash out for the full amount of your bet. If find a better line at another book I just cashout my bet and take the better line.

You have to be a mich resident.

it should have been live last year, too much red tape.

You don't have to be a resident, just have to be physically in the state when betting. You can set up your account and fund/withdraw from it from outside of Michigan, just have to be there when you place bets.

We opened with 9 today. That is a great start.

Colorado started with 4 day one and all we had was KBO, Belarus soccer and ping pong to bet on. Was miserably hard trying to hedge out risk free bets on that stuff with crap lines like -160/+120. Michigan people have no idea how good you have it for day one.

Yes. I don't think VPN's work.

Who Can Bet on Sports in Michigan?
Most adults in Michigan can legally bet on sports both online and in licensed casinos.
You need to be at least 21 years old, and online sportsbooks must verify your identity using software approved by regulators. You must be physically located within state lines to bet with Michigan licensed sportsbooks, but you do not need to be a resident of the state.
This means sports bettors in Ontario, Canada are free to make the short drive into Detroit to place their wagers in a regulated and legal environment.
Those with a serious criminal record or who have been placed on a gambling exclusion list anywhere in the United States are also prohibited from participating in Michigan sports betting.

No it is not as good as it seems. there are about 3 , 4 or 5 odds makers per state. The books do not operate separate like nevada or offshore. For instance there is a group of books that move off of pinnacle .... theScore works independent...

I got an email today too from Twin Spires claiming i can bet Michigan sports thru them as well. Separate from their pony action.

I believe each online book is affiliated with a brick and mortar book at one of the casinos...i.e., Barstool Sportsbook is at Greek Town, FD at Motor City, MGM, well is MGM, lol. Twin Spires may be affiliated with one of the Indian casinos.

Yes, every one is affiliated with a B&M casino. Twin Spires is in the Island Resort and Casino in Harris, over by Escanaba.

For a pro this might matter. For amateurs there will be enough differences in the lines to make line shopping worthwhile. If you are focused on following or beating steam then you need independent shops, but most bettors will get enough favorable options with just 5 or 6 books

openers in the new legal states are horrible .... westgate & circa , ( in-game WH ) & offshore are good only

They don't, you don't get by the location check if you have a VPN. You cant even have Zoom or any of the meeting apps running. I even got a warning for having Go To Meeting running somewhere in the background. It's a bit of a pain to use sometimes.
I signed up at Fan Duel on my pc and forgot I had my VPN on and couldn't get past the check point. Contacted Support and he had me log in with the mobile app and I was fine. He said I may be able to uninstall the VPN and FAnDuel app and start again and it may work but he wasn't 100% sure of that either.
