Monmouth fixed-odds wagering

Bettors are going to be slow to embrace fixed-odds wagering when only six betting windows at Monmouth Park are available at the track.

But having BetMakers involved is a huge plus.

I assume the takeouts in fixed-odds wagering mirror the pari-mutuel holds at Monmouth.

I won't be going to Monmouth til mid June. I do know that I had a horse that paid $41.40 the other day and noticed that the fixed price was $38. I'll be there soon enough

Are you locked in with a fixed odds wager or can you go back to the assigned window, cancel
and bet pari-mutual for better odds?

Like live wagering at a sports book, I assume fixed-odds wagering does not allow canceled bets.

A bet is a bet once you leave the window.

There's more than one meaning in Monmouth's catchphrase for fixed-odds wagering.

"The odds that you bet are the odds that you get," screams the promotional material.

In other words, no refunds.

Once the Atlantic City casino subsidies stopped coming to Monmouth Park in 2011, business declined precipitously.

Sadly, Monmouth Park's glory days are in the past.

I went every year for the Sapling Stakes...sadly my last visit was 25 years ago.

I heard its only 2 windows open for fixed odds...but it wasn't from someone I know.

Does anyone know the limits?

I believe you can bet to win $5,000 before the odds change.

If that's the case, that's a winning policy.

The house needs to post that type of information for everyone to see.

I saw the 2500 at one site and this from another site :

The minimum fixed odds wager is $1. There is no maximum bet, but any wager that is calculated to profit more than $5,000 on a win bet or $2,000 on a place or show wager is subject to approval by the BetMakers trading department. While Monmouth Park’s opening day coincides with the Kentucky Derby race card, at first fixed odds will only be available on races taking place at Monmouth Park.

I'm going to go over some of the past results they have on there and compare....just to have a look...and monitor the site during live monmouth cards to see the prices

Deal.

Wondering if the oddsmaking algorithm at BetMakers mirrors some of the qualities/attributes of the big computer groups?

I wonder if DRF or Equibase, in time, will include fixed-odds closing prices in their past-performance presentations?

Another favorite wins at Monmouth.

Bikini Baby at odds of 4/5 was hard-pressed to get there but won in the end.

While monmouthbets.com subscribers currently can use fixed odds only for Monmouth Park races, BetMakers executive Dallas Baker told NJ Online Gambling Wednesday, “That is only for a moment. It will change in a couple of weeks.”

A dozen or so tracks already have signed on, and so far, it looks as if Colorado could be the second state to offer fixed odds. An enabling law was passed there in March, although the process has gotten bogged down ever since.

Baker cites a list of partner tracks that includes Assiniboia Downs, Century Mile (harness), Canterbury Park, Caymanas Park, Colonial Downs, Delaware Park, Emerald Downs, Fairmont Park, Grants Pass, Hawthorne (harness), and Tampa Bay Downs.

Who else is involved in conversations about fixed odds? New Jersey-based lobbyist Bill Pascrell III mentioned Michigan, Illinois, Indiana, North Carolina, Ohio, Oregon, Oklahoma, Washington state, and Florida — with New York lawmakers also expressing interest.
