I came soooo close to taking the whole pick 5 pool a week ago for $11k
all I missed was the $6 winner in the 7th. Singled the 4/5 fave and the obvious 2/1 shot wins—
Had $40 winner in the 5th.
Got paid $40 for 4 out of 5... but I really should have hit it.

In the last race tonight the ultimate winner (7/2) paid less in the exacta with the second favorite (3/1) than it would have with the fav (3/2)....naturally they had to break the fav last to do it.
This track reminds me of the defunct Bay Meadows. Spread out fields, heavy favorites allowed the lead or manage to always lay behind cheap speed that collapses top of the stretch, closers with plenty of horse back far enough never to get there but the jocks look like they're trying. Charles Town no different.
