I agree with everything you said about Obama and corporations. I just think Romney would be worse and more one-sided. His history is entirely at the corporate elite level and he will be entirely submissive to them. Obama is incompetent and useless, but Romney could be more destructive to everyone outside the corporate elite.
Romney is a sleazy politician. But he could not be any worse than the chimp. Obama's policy for giving terrorists miranda rights and defense attorneys paid for by us is insane. The chimp has got to go.

Obama Hits Lowest Approval Mark

Independent voters see Pres. Obama in a negative light by a nearly 2-1 margin, according to a new Marist College survey, while almost half of voters say he has failed to meet their expectations.

The poll, conducted Feb. 1-3, showed just 44% of registered voters approving of Obama's job as president. 47% disapprove. But among indie voters, Obama's approval rating sits at a terrible 29%, while his disapproval rating is at 57%.

Obama's 44% job approval rating is the lowest he has scored in any non-internet poll since moving into the WH, according to a review of data compiled by Pollster.com.

And while GOPers strive to avoid attacking Obama personally, for fear of offending voters who see him in a favorable light personally, even that aura of invincibility is wearing off. Independent voters view Obama negatively, too, by a 39% favorable to 52% unfavorable margin. All registered voters still see Obama favorably by a 50%-44% margin, but that's down 5 points in just 2 months.

Voters are disappointed in what they got with Obama's first year. The poll shows 47% believe Obama has failed to meet their expectations -- including a quarter of Dems, 65% of GOPers and 53% of indie voters -- while just 42% say he has met their expectations. 38% say Obama's policies are moving the country in the wrong direction, while 37% say they're making the country better.

Meanwhile, members of Congress should brace for a difficult election year. 42% of registered voters said they would back their current member of Congress, while 44% said they would support someone else -- a drop of 9 points in support of the incumbent in just 2 months.

The Marist College poll surveyed 910 registered voters for a margin of error of +/- 3.2%.

As an outsider looking in, is approval tied to taking on unpopular health care? Would the non-insured be part of the approvers still? Presumably yes! It is a disgrace that American citizens can have no insurance! Or that coverage can be denied after collecting. A major disease should not bankrupt an individual and family! This what being part of a 'community' is all about. Most Western countries all have some form of socialized medicine.

Its amazing that the only way to show support for a 2000 page bill ,full of crap, bribes, lies, and setting up the framework for a complete government takeover of our entire healthcare system, is to restate the problem

Everyone knows the problem ,the question is , can we get the government out of healthcare and let true free market principals drive costs down through real competition and tort reform.

Put down the kool aide and think

Obama wouldn't know the free market from Publix

Quinnipiac: Obama down to 45%

A pair of polls released today show that the electorate continues to sour on Barack Obama and his agenda after the State of the Union address.

Quinnipiac?s survey of over 2600 registered voters produces a 45% approval rating with a 46% disapproval, the highest yet from Quinnipiac. Trust in government has plunged as well:
American voters remain deeply divided about President Barack Obama?s job performance, giving him a 45 ? 46 percent job approval, but disapproval of both Democrats and Republicans in Congress tops 2-1. This could explain why only 2 percent trust government to do what is right almost all of the time, and 16 percent trust government to do right most of the time, according to a Quinnipiac University poll released today.

While President Obama?s ratings on the economy and job creation remain low, voters strongly support the steps he has proposed to put Americans back to work, the independent Quinnipiac (KWIN-uh-pe-ack) University survey finds.

American voters still disapprove 54 ? 35 percent of Obama?s health care reform plan, but they say 52 ? 44 percent they want Congress and the President to keep trying on health care reform rather than giving up and moving on to other matters.
But how exactly do people want Obama and the GOP to continue working on health-care reform? Rasmussen?s survey of likely voters says a wide majority wants to shred the current ObamaCare proposals and start from scratch:
President Obama this week called for a televised bipartisan summit to get his health care reform plan back on track, but 61% of U.S. voters say Congress should scrap that plan and start all over again.

A new Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey finds just 28% who think it is better to build on the health care plan that has been working its way through the House and Senate.
Support for and opposition to the existing plan remain at the same levels they?ve been at since just after Thanksgiving.
The Rasmussen numbers on ObamaCare look about the same as Quinnipiac, 58-39 opposed. Majorities in every age and income demographic support starting over from scratch, as well as 66% of independents. Democrats support building on current proposals, but only by a 53/35 majority.

The internals of Obama?s approval ratings look increasingly desperate. Independents disapprove 40/49, as do middle class voters 41/51 ($50-100K) and 43/54 ($100K-250K). He has now lost Catholics, 41/52, while Jewish voters split evenly 49/49 ? which are two big red flags among- usually loyal Democratic groups, especially the latter. :thumbsup :whip:

Obama has now gotten two bad days of polling news, and one thing is clear: attempting to pose as bipartisan at the House Republican Caucus meeting and in the State of the Union speech did Obama no long-term good at all. Voters still dislike Obama?s policies, and his demand for Republican cooperation hasn?t rallied anyone to his standard. Republicans apparently managed to win the long-term argument from those appearances ? which should give them confidence in standing their ground and continuing the debate.

Gallup: Obama only up 2 over generic GOP candidate

posted at 11:36 am on February 11, 2010 by Ed Morrissey
Share on Facebook | printer-friendly

The era of Hope and Change may have given way to the era of Who?s Next?

Gallup reports that just a little over a year into his presidency, Barack Obama has not only failed to unite the country, but has almost squandered his own electability. In their latest poll, Gallup finds Obama in a virtual tie with a generic Republican candidate, and the internals point to a much different turnout model than 2008:
Registered voters are about equally divided as to whether they would more likely vote to re-elect Barack Obama in the 2012 presidential election, or vote for the Republican candidate.

These results are based on a Feb. 1-3 Gallup poll. Forty-four percent of U.S. registered voters say they are more likely to vote for Obama, 42% for the Republican candidate, and the remaining 14% are undecided or would vote for another candidate.

A year into his first term as president, Obama?s approval ratings are hovering around 50%. The 50% approval figure has been a strong predictor of an incumbent president?s re-election: presidents who averaged 50% or better from January of an election year through Election Day have all been re-elected. This includes George W. Bush, who averaged 51% in 2004, though his approval rating was 48% in Gallup?s final pre-election poll.
The influence of Obama?s personal likability appears to be influencing job approval. The difference between that and the percentage who would vote for his re-election is six points, which is outside the margin of error. Clearly, some people ?approve? of Obama while disliking his performance enough to vote for an unnamed Republican challenger, at least at this point ? and that?s something to keep in mind when looking at approval ratings in other polls, especially those based on likely voters.

That doesn?t tell the entire story, however. Obama won office by getting a majority of independents and some Republicans to vote for him, while getting a turnout that greatly favored Democrats in 2008. In this poll, only 31% of independents would cast a vote for Obama today, while 45% say they will vote for a Republican alternative.:+waving-5 That fourteen-point gap also tells a story about how turnout will go for Obama in 2012. It may not be as dramatic as Massachusetts in their special election last month, but Obama is clearly not going to excite those new participants into the polls as he did in 2008. If anything, it looks like opposition will drive the independent vote, and Obama supporters perhaps unmotivated to show up at all.

Which Republican do Gallup respondents see in that position? The top five in order are Mitt Romney, Sarah Palin, John McCain (?), Scott Brown, and Mike Huckabee. Bobby Jindal and Tim Pawlenty also appear on the list, as does Newt Gingrich and Ron Paul, but 42% of Republicans and Republican-leaning independents offered no name at all. Romney, topping the list, only got 14% of respondents to name him (unprompted). The field appears to be wide open, and voters appear to be open to a wide variety of candidates to challenge Obama for the White House ? and that?s not a sign that Obama is impressing anyone with his performance thus far.

Addendum: John McCain? He got 7%, just behind his former running mate, who got 11%.

Re: Obama's Approval Ratings TANKING!

The fact that Obama can actually be ahead in any poll is clear evidence of how horrible the Republican party is.

Re: Obama's Approval Ratings TANKING!

A 2 point lead in politics is like less than the number '3' in football. It's meaningless.

I didn't say it was meaningful. But given the disaster of the Obama presidency, in that he has done absolutely nothing and merely continues Bush policies, you would not expect Obama to have a decent chance to be re-elected unless the alternative is horrendous.

Obama approval at 46%, says ? CBS

posted at 7:53 pm on February 11, 2010 by Ed Morrissey
Share on Facebook | printer-friendly

Well, I had a big post that WordPress ate just a few minutes ago, but the gist of the latest polling is that Barack Obama has ? had a really bad day. You know it?s bad when the CBS/NYT poll fails to lift Obama, and at 46% with 45% disapproving, this isn?t going to help him move the averages up as it normally would:
As the lagging economy continues to weigh on people?s minds, the American public is more disapproving than ever of President Obama?s job performance, the latest CBS News/New York Times poll finds.

Mr. Obama?s job approval rating stands at 46 percent, matching his previous low from early January. As many as 45 percent of Americans disapprove of the job he is doing ? his highest disapproval rating to date. More than anything, Americans are critical of how Mr. Obama is handling domestic issues like the economy.
Unlike with previous CBS/NYT polls, the sampling on this is extraordinarily accurate. The D/R/I in the unweighted sample is 32/29/29, and in the weighted sample, 30/28/42. That may oversample independents a bit at the expense of the two parties, but it?s a lot closer to reality than anything normally seen in this poll.

The news is almost across-the-board bad:
The president has clearly slipped in public estimation in the last few months when it comes to economic issues ? which Americans name as the most important problem facing the country. Fifty-two percent of Americans disapprove of the president?s handling of the economy. Additionally, 58 percent disapprove of Mr. Obama?s handling of the budget deficit, up 15 points from July.

Most Americans do not think the president has a clear plan for creating jobs. While 39 percent say he does, 56 percent say he does not.
There is a lot more in the poll breakout, but here are a few highlights:

 • Economy ? down 10, 42/52
 • Health care ? down 20, 35/55
 • Deficits ? down 27, 31/58
 • More people feel angry or dissatisfied (51%) at the Obama administration than enthusiastic or satisfied (47%)
 • 56% think he has no clear plan to create jobs
 • Those who see the economy as bad have increased from 77% to 83% in the last two months
 • 52% think Obama has not spent enough time on the economy
 • 48% think Obama has spent too much time on health care
 • 56% want the federal government to get smaller and provide fewer services
 • 53% think we can?t afford to reform the health-care system, up from 42% in September
The poll indicates that the American electorate has begun to lose patience with its rookie Chief Executive, and it corroborates the other depressing poll numbers that Obama has received in the last few weeks.

Neither did Bush, but that didn't keep him from being re-elected. When the alternative is horrible (such as Kerry), there isn't much the voters can do. The incumbent might be the safer choice when both are horrible anyway. There's a good chance the same thing will happen with Obama, especially if Romney is the opponent.

So you would only be satisfied with Palin and no other Republican? What makes her so much better than the rest for you?

Well, actually I'd rather have Jim DeMint than Sarah Palin.

I was simply reinforcing your point: the GOP will most likely lose with Mitt Romney for the same reasons John Kerry lost to Dubya.

I know that you agreed on that point. I'm just curious why you think Palin would be so much better than Romney. I know you have made many pro-Palin posts on here, so I was suprised to see you have such a negative view of Romney, being that they are both Republicans.

I prefer Palin to Romney because she does not seem as entrenched with Wall Street and corporations, but you are generally in favor of Wall Street and corporations.

Sarah's a conservative.

With Mitt, you never know if he's sincere or just telling you what you want to hear to get elected, a la John Kerry.

Other than maybe Ron Paul and John McCain, Mitt Romney was the last person I wanted to see win the nomination in '08.

I prefer Palin to Romney because she does not seem as entrenched with Wall Street and corporations, but you are generally in favor of Wall Street and corporations.

Being a strong advocate of the free market does not mean I'm in favor of Wall Street and corporations.

It's just a fact that the free market is the most fair, objective final arbiter of prices, including the cost of labor.

Yep.

:LMAO

CafePress: Bush “Miss Me Yet?” Merchandise Hot

By Tara Lynn Thompson

Will shirt sales vindicate President Bush? It might depend on how well they wash.

CafePress, those lovable shirt makers who can cross the aisle like a McCain in the making, are reporting that George W. Bush is the new Obama. Since the billboard featuring President Bush with the question, “Miss Me Yet?” took to the skies along a Minnesota highway last week, Bush merchandise is back.

Is there room on the chest of America for two popular Presidents?

Apparently not. The One, who had initially replaced W in sales, has been struck by the success of the come-back kid.

As Bush “Miss Me Yet?” shirts are flying off the e-store, Obama merchandise is filling storage boxes. The One is no longer the one that fits.

Last week, 10 of the sight’s 100 top-selling designs were Bush, equating to approximately 500 orders a day, according to Jenna Martin, CafePress spokeswoman.

ACORN was not involved in the counting of t-shirt sales.
“There were no Obama-themed designs on the list – Bush has stolen the political spotlight, just like Sarah Palin did the week before when she re-surfaced with crib notes written in her palm,” she said.
What Americans wear and drive-by is increasingly becoming a blast from the Presidential past or a sign, pardon the pun, of growing discontent. A new Anti-Obama billboard has taken to the roadside, asking Cedar Rapids, Iowa drivers, “Hows that ‘Hope and Change’ working out for you?”.

That makes the fourth Anti-Obama message to become life-sized, including the “Impeach Obama” billboard in Wisconsin, the “Marxist” billboard in Missouri, and the “Miss Me Yet?” billboard in Minnesota.

Any one want to predict the next billboard slogan? Any ideas? How about…

Obama approval rating at 43%: Rasmussen

posted at 10:12 am on March 10, 2010 by Ed Morrissey
Share on Facebook | printer-friendly

Barack Obama hits the campaign trail again this month in support of a tremendously unpopular ObamaCare bill ? and his numbers have started nose-diving again. Rasmussen?s latest daily poll shows Obama now at 43% approval, with 56% disapproving, the lowest figures of his presidency. His ?passion index? has once again hit its lowest level at -21, as less than a quarter of registered voters now strongly approve of his performance:
The Rasmussen Reports daily Presidential Tracking Poll for Wednesday shows that 22% of the nation?s voters Strongly Approve of the way that Barack Obama is performing his role as President. Forty-one percent (43%) Strongly Disapprove giving Obama a Presidential Approval Index rating of -21. That matches the lowest Approval Index rating yet recorded for this President (see trends).

Forty-two percent (42%) of Democrats Strongly Approve while 72% of Republicans Strongly Disapprove. Among those not affiliated with either major political party, 17% Strongly Approve and 45% Strongly Disapprove. ?

Overall, 43% of voters say they at least somewhat approve of the President?s performance. That, too matches the lowest level yet recorded for this President. Fifty-six percent (56%) disapprove.
So far, this hard pivot to the economy has worked out well for Obama, hasn?t it? Three months ago, the White House had accurately diagnosed the political problem for Obama?s slide in the polls. Obama and the Democrats had spent most of the year haggling over a progressive hobby horse while American unemployment skyrocketed. They pledged to backburner the ObamaCare effort and start focusing on jobs, but they only turned out a wan $15 billion package that won?t stimulate any new job creation at all.

Now, Obama wants to double down and force ObamaCare through when he should be starting from scratch. He?s filling every available moment with his campaign, sucking all of the oxygen out of job-creation efforts, while his pet project only gets less popular by the day. Small wonder that only 22% of the electorate has strong approval of his performance.

It took George Bush almost six years to get to this level of job approval. Obama?s managed it in 14 months.
That?s change no one can believe in, apparently.

Re: Obama's Approval Ratings TANKING!

Post-Obamacare Collapse: Obama 46% Approval Matches All-Time Low in Gallup

In another crushing blow to the ?conventional wisdom? of the establishment media that because ?Americans love winners? President Barack Obama would receive a large, sustained bounce in approval after last week?s passage of Obamacare, today Gallup released its daily approval numbers showing Obama at only 46% approval, with 46% disapproving. Obama?s 46% approval in Gallup represents a matching of Obama?s all-time low in approval. While Obama did peak at 51% mid-week after the passage of Obamacare, he has now lost that entire bounce and is at the low of his Presidency, which completely repudiates the ?conventional wisdom? in the establishment media.

Further, Rasmussen?s numbers this morning confirm this dissipation of any alleged ?bounce? from the passage of Obamacare, with Rasmussen finding Obama?s approval numbers now at the same level as before the passage of Obamacare:
The Rasmussen Reports daily Presidential Tracking Poll for Sunday shows that 28% of the nation?s voters Strongly Approve of the way that Barack Obama is performing his role as President. Forty-four percent (44%) Strongly Disapprove giving Obama a Presidential Approval Index rating of -16 (see trends).

The President enjoyed a modest bounce in the polls following the passage of health care legislation last week. However, his Approval Index rating is now back to where it was last Sunday, just before the House voted in favor of his health care plan. All the bouncing of the past week has come among Democrats. There has been virtually no change in the opinions of Republicans and unaffiliated voters.
White House spokesman is sure to face questions about this post-Obamacare collapse in the President?s approval ratings, as Gibbs himself last week tweeted out the Gallup one-day poll on Obamacare as a truthful and reliable indicator of the public?s views.

This continued collapse in Obama?s approval, with an all-time low of 46% in Gallup and a near all-time high in Rasmussen of 44% strong disapproval today, demonstrates the failure of the Democratic strategy to smear the tea party as racist extremists as well. Indeed, ABC/WaPo?s numbers this morning show the tea party is favorably viewed by the American public, despite this smear campaign by the Democrats and the establishment media. Numbers such as these are sure to encourage the Republicans to continue to attack the Obamacare package as a historic mistake and ensure that the cry of ?replace and repeal? is heard in every congressional race across the nation in the leadup to the November 2010 elections.

Washington (CNN) – Passage of the landmark health care bill appears to have boosted President Barack Obama's approval rating, but it has not affected his re-election chances so far, according to a new national poll.
A CNN/Opinion Research Corporation survey released Monday indicates that 51 percent of Americans approve of the job Obama is doing in the White House, with 48 percent saying they disapprove. That 51 percent approval rating is up five points from a week ago, before Congress approved the health care reform bill and the president signed the legislation into law. Four in ten respondents say they disapprove because Obama is too liberal and 6 percent say they the president is not liberal enough.

Last week, President Obama signed historic health care reform legislation into law -- but his legislative success doesn't seem to have helped his image with the American public. The latest CBS News Poll, conducted between March 29 and April 1, found Americans unhappier than ever with Mr. Obama's handling of health care - and still worried about the state of the economy.

President Obama's overall job approval rating has fallen to an all-time low of 44 percent, down five points from late March, just before the health bill's passage in the House of Representatives. It's down 24 points since his all-time high last April. Forty-one percent of those polled said they disapproved of the president's performance.

More results from this CBS News Poll will be released in Friday's broadcast of the Evening News with Katie Couric, which airs at 6:30 p.m. Eastern.

When it comes to health care, the President's approval rating is even lower -- and is also a new all-time low. Only 34 percent approved, while 55 percent said they disapproved.

Americans are still worried about the economy, with 84 percent telling CBS they thought it was still in bad condition. However, even that high number represents an improvement: nine in ten thought the economy was bad during the last half of 2008 and at the beginning of 2009, when Mr. Obama assumed the Presidency.

Concern about job loss remains high; slightly more Americans now (35 percent) than in February (31 percent) were "very concerned" that someone in their household would lose a job. Nearly six in ten Americans said they were at least "somewhat concerned" about a job loss.

As has often been the case, lower-income Americans tend to be the most concerned about job loss.

This concern is reflected in yet another low approval rating -- this time for the President's handling of the economy. Just 42 percent said they approved of how President Obama is handling the economy, only one point above January's all-time low. Half of the public disapproves.

Phone numbers were dialed from random digit dial samples of both standard land-line and cell phones. The error due to sampling for results based on the entire sample could be plus or minus three percentage points. The error for subgroups is higher.
