you can buy a box yourself and add everything mentioned here yourself.

Amazon box will have a 'smart' screen like most of the new TVs have these days. With Apps (preinstalled and requiring a sub for many) then like a phone you can add (sideload) other apps. Some of them through play store and others through website or filelinked stores. (look on youtube for guys who have them and dont fall for the 'you need a VPN' nonsense just get their codes.)The best site has been down for months that one had every app and APK ever created on it but its been shut down for some reason.

If you have a newer Sony TV 'smart' TV then you can direct load Android apps on that without a box.

But basically you need a player or two. MX Player pro will run 95% of all apps content. Probably want a browser. Puffin or Chrome. Puffin is better. A cleaner and some security as well. Then you add your Apps/APK. The list of the 'best' ones is going to be fairly universal. Only difference is going to come in when you start talking about subscription based stuff. then its all based of who is making money from it. I have long said you dont need to pay for anything (thats the point of streaming, or was) but many people who arent technically inclined feel paying for convenience is worth it.

Anything with Android OS or Any Amazon FIRE device will run the apps most talked about here. Roku is second and getting better and their cheaper TVs are actually better quality than a lot of the Android based ones. Amazon is still Amazon and a lot of shit you can get on official apps if you have a Prime Sub. They also have some older TV shows and movies and Amazon 'original' stuff that isnt bad. So a lot of options (all free) for any replay type viewing. But just look up Fire TV and youll get all the varieties there are. Buying a Sony TV is going to get expensive but if money is no object get one of the 9 series OLED. Or for a small discount get the last gen 8 series. 55 inch versus 65 inch is a fairly major discount. (usually a thousand bucks right off the top) But this is one of the best ones on market prices will vary by retailer....

But Sony will run any and all Android Apps. LGs are probably better TVs overall and Samsung is going to give you most bang for bucks but neither of those will have direct access to Android apps and thus youll have to run a box or a stick or a cube or whatever. So its a coin flip decision. And of course you always have the actual Amazon brand TV (2 levels) but their quality compared to any of the ones listed is terrible. But its all built in and relatively cheap. (but still more expensive than a much better picture quality Samsung)

Live TV through streaming is where it gets separated. There are a lot of free places, quality and results can vary but with enough options youre going to find whatever you want whenever you want. You just might have to spend a minute or three cycling through different apps and feeds. Whether thats worth 10 or 15 bucks a month is up to the user I guess. But the selling point has always been 'no buffering' well they all buffer now regardless. Except ironically many of the free ones (because like I have said for awhile the traffic there has gone way down as more and more people are subbing to other IPTV services). Traffic per server is still the number one buffering cause. (again as mentioned here) i.e. more people trying to access the same feed the slower it gets. The selling point of sub based IPTV services were servers with hard caps to eliminate that traffic. But seems like the more popular they get the more people they stack on servers. rather than getting or opening new servers.

The list of very good (free) ones is relatively short and some will have much better streams of some networks than others. Thats why some people balk at them. But some will have excellent ESPN or Fox sports feeds but suck at other feeds. (because they ramp up their servers for the more popular networks. but it doesnt take long to figure out which ones are better for which networks.

If youre doing it on mobile then I cant help much. I am a PC and a TV guy I dont do laptops or mobile shit. I make actual calls on my phone and other than an occasion crypto trade amnd a weather or time check my phone doesnt get used for much. I dont even text.
