Pass Interference is now reviewable in the NFL....

I know what they are trying to do, what they are trying to correct, but you can call this on almost every pass play.

And how long will it take to determine if it was offense, defense or both?

What next, review to see if the linemen are holding?

I don't think this is going to work out well unless they only use it for extreme situations......

And my confidence level is zero about those chances.

I suspect it will only be reviewed on the obvious as we all saw in the big game. Run of the mill stuff won't even get a whiff.

Other than last 2 minutes of half/game a coach can have it reviewed any time he wants, assuming he isn't out of challenges.

Now teams have a 3rd and 45 in the playbook. Run your best WR out on a fly and initiate contact. Review for any sign of a penalty.

Can you imagine how many PI you will see on a Hail Mary with 10 guys going for the football?

They slow things down you will see it all.

And last 2 minutes with the booth looking frame by frame? How many of those calls will decide games?

Maybe I'll change my mind later but I don't like it..........

This could actually lead to more games decided by the officials rather than the players.

This is going to open a can of worms. This is a spot foul. Are they nuts?

Yeah the change this year should have been reducing NFL PI to college PI for infractions.

I'd like that better than reviewing in super slow for signs of PI. If called by the book you could flag that 90% of the plays.

Always hand fighting by both sides. Always WR's pushing off, they teach you to do that......

More (and by far most expensive) plays than ever will be opened up to a refs interpretation of the rules.

wanna speed up the game? Then eliminate kickoffs.

They are mostly touchbacks anyways, and when they are not, there is usually a penalty called

Sportsbooks should petition the NFL to start games at 1pm est and 5pm est. Longer games will lock up that early money to not get down on the afternoon games. 3 hour and 40 minute games will become the norm.

take 5 secs off the game clock on passing plays. 10 if its a running play that gains less then 10 yards or so.

We KNOW they can go faster if necessary

Yeah they really need to do something.......

I love the NFL but last season I began DVR'ing games and start watching them an hour later after they start so I can zoom through the commercials.

That sucks though because you can't take advantage of live betting platforms.

The game just drags with all that review bullshit already, just can't imagine more breaks this year. Sigh.

They definitely have to cut down on special teams penalties. There are soooo many of them.

If a punt return gains 5 yards or less... no penalty (unless personal foul)

on kick offs, no holding if its not returned outside 25 yard line

How about on kickoffs.

Receiving team gets a choice. They can start at the 25 if no kickoff but if they want a chance at a return, a touch back only comes out to the 20

I like your idea but the league isn't ever going to do that because defensive back coaches wouldn't ever allow their guys to get beat deep or in the EZ.

Also, and probably more important is a referee's flag wouldn't be able to control as many game and pointspread results with DPI only being a 15 yard or half the distance penalty.

I'm sure that's the idea in college, does it ruin the game for you? I actually prefer college to the NFL game.

Ok, now on this I can agree with you, LOL. Point noted.

Drnkyourmlkshake brought up a good point on Twitter. Why wouldn’t you just throw hail mary’s All game and review for PI calls?

Well you are limited on the number of challenges/reviews, you only get two or whatever it is and when they are gone you are done.

Believe I read the # of challenges per game was not changed.....

That said I imagine we will see a lot more Hail Mary's and other kind of long passes in desperate situations.

Even those back shoulder throws a good receiver can initiate contact even if he doesn't catch the football.

In the last two minutes, the refs make the decision to review and not the coaches.

I like the rule change now they should change the penalty to 15 yards like college. I think this will influence refs to throw fewer flags on PI and be more willing to let the coaches decide on the infraction.

The next rule that needs to be fixed is a fumble out of the end zone being a turnover without any recovery by the defense. It makes zero sense that offense retains the ball in that situation on every part of the field except for where they’ve earned yardage the most

IMO replay has turned the league into a shit show, get rid of it, of course there will be some blown calls, but the team on the wrong end of a bad call will get the next one to go their way, in the end it would all even out. It drives me crazy when the refs are looking at whether the ball moved ever so slightly as the receiver was going out of bounds. When replay was first introduced it was meant to correct the obvious bad calls, then it morphed into micro managing every little thing, just get rid of it altogether

100% agree with you on this, maybe let the offense still have the ball, but let them have it at the 20, the offense would be penalized by having the ball at the 20, but at least they would still retain possession
