President Obama is not perfect but has made major headway in restoring America's credibility and standing in the world. He is such a pleasure to listen to, his inate goodness and intelligence shines through every time. I wish that his detractors would give him a chance as most of us did with President Bush. We tried and tried to be conciliatory but our olive branches were crushed. Too bad that the righties could not even wait till Obama's hand was off of the Koran to begin demonizing our President. Rush and his minion are more than willing for America to fail in order for them to be "right", even if they are wrong, in my opinion. You can readily see this phenomena by reading the posts of most of the righties in this forum. Do you all think this is even remotely fair or just a fact of life in the 2000's?

Absolutely, as a senator who had held office for only a couple years, I agree. Of course it was mostly the fault of the democrats, who forced banks to lend money to people who bought houses they couldnt afford. It was also the fault of those who created the ability of banks to lend said money and then sell off those assets immediately and pretend there would be no consequence.

I think there is plenty of blame to go around, I just wish that we could all tone down the rhetoric and actually work together. I am not certain when the two parties stopped working together but I do know that ever since Rush Limbaugh came to prominence, things have been way too confrontational. I grew up in DC and knew many Congressmen's kids and used to see their fathers occasionally. I remember going to barbeques and parties and it always seemed to be across party lines that we all got along. I don't know if we will ever see that again and that is truly sad.
