Proposed New Option for Under Total Players

If you like playing Under in totals, full game or 2nd half, you have been right in your assessment sometimes only to get burned by the game going overtime.

Last night I took V-Tech/Purdue under 66.5 2nd half, after watching the pitiful shooting by both teams 1st half. They improved a little the second half but clearly it was going to stay under without OT. In the final minute one watches hoping to keep it a 1 point difference and not 2. But 3 pointers or making one of two freethrows sends it into dreaded OT.

Gave up, as they scored 56 in the 2nd half, leaving only 10.5 for 5 minutes of overtime. But wait, more missed shots, turnovers and sloppy play and the points were just coming in at 2 per minute. Down to 16 seconds to go and on 66, just 10 in OT. V-Tech down 2. Better if it was only 1 as they would wait for the last shot. They miss and a loose ball is tied up with 3.3 seconds! If it is V-Tech?s possession there is a chance but no, possession arrow to Purdue. Fouled with 2.3, make 1 free throw, game over and 67 points scored in 2nd half plus OT. 2348ji23e

So I have come up with a way under players can protect themselves from this OT frustration. An option when playing unders to check a box, OT not included and pay extra juice, say 10% more. You have the option to lay regular juice and include OT or not.

Not seriously thinking any book would ever do this, but more and more strange bets and props are available than before so maybe it is not so crazy an idea?

By the way, my worst ever under loss was a long time ago on a Laker game where I survived 2 OT?s but it finally went over in the 3rd!

I had this bookie once, years ago, who I kept on beating with games going into OT when I had the over. I hit him 3 times in one week with overs that went into OT. When he came to pay me off, he told me that from now on, the game is official when 4 quarters are played.....NO OT!!!. So that week, I started spotting a lot of unders. Well you know what happened next. Games that were under in four quarters, were now going over in OT. Since I was on the under, he had to pay me. The best one was I beat him by a half point. He was ready to pull his hair out. I told them he should have left well enough alone since no one in the betting world ever stopped a game until it was official. He turned me over to another book who I couldn't beat for shit.

It's not crazy, it's innovative. I could see a place like the LV Hilton offering this down the road, most other casinos and offshore books aren't creative and hate to take risks. I once proposed on here that books make lines for NBA games through the first 47 minutes of action, and likewise for the first 39 minutes for NCAAB games. This would eliminate the last second fouling that tends to more often than not screw with the O/U. Books would lure in many wagers with, say, 15 cent lines for these.

I recall two years ago I had UNDER for a game in which the Utah Jazz were at the Houston Rockets. Would you believe that there were something like 20 points scored in the final minute of the game, when Utah was leading by about 8 or so with a minute left and it wasn't even that close? Happens all the time.

You would have to pay around 20 cents though that would vary a lot depending on the spread. (ie no adjustment if the line is -35, bigger adjustment if its pk)

This is one of the more entertaining bettor/bookie stories I've read here.
