</header>Update: Torre shot down the rumors, saying he doesn't know where they came from, according to CBSSports.com's Jon Heyman.
Joe Torre could consider managing again, according to the Boston Globe's Nick Cafardo.
While Torre refuses to comment on the situation, Cafardo has heard talk he would consider a return to the dugout. In 29 years as a manager, Torre had a .538 winning percentage. His 12 seasons with the Yankees were his most successful. Torre won AL six pennants and four World Series titles with the team. Following the 2010 season, Torre stepped down as manager of the Los Angeles Dodgers and was named executive vice president for baseball operations for Major League Baseball.
Cafardo suggests Boston as a landing place for Torre, who had been considered for the Red Sox job in 1988 after the team fired John McNamara. But the club experienced a resurgence under interim manager Joe Morgan and stopped interviewing other candidates for the position.
