Technical questions regarding sportsbooks and VPN

Just curious if you guys have figured out how to use computers or phones with VPN and still be able to get into sportsbooks. I'm not trying to get around the location checks, I don't bet out of state. But i am now working with project that could be quite long term and these guys insist everything I do with them have a VPN and a virtual desktop. I installed it and now of course my books are saying you have a VPN so you fail location check. I don't even have it active when I try logging in, just fire it up when I'm doing work.

Other than getting another computer, do you guys know a way around this issue? Even worse they want me to add it to my phone to send them stuff and do some virtual meetings on there. So my sportsbetting could be on serious pause unless there is a way around this.

You should be able to disable VPN in your settings or in the app you’re using. Just disable it when you want to access your betting service.

Don't know how it is in other states but GeoComply has some software that sniffs out even inactive VPNs and no way around them. I had to repurpose an old laptop for now, might buy a new one for this project and write it off. Nothing I can do about the phone either, most of my betting will have to happen through my existing desktop.

The shit you gotta do to bet these days...

Having a VPN *and* a virtual desktop seems like overkill to me. Citrix has the VPN component built-in.

I'm not sure how a website knows you're on a VPN, unless there's some IP-logging service tracking and reporting VPN host sites. Maybe VPNs use different ports to avoid conflict. I may do some digging on that, just out of curiousity.

That said, I recommend getting a cheap laptop just to access those sites. If you happen to be at work you could tether that machine to your smartphone's internet for access.
