While the tea parties created some splash, they no longer are relevant to the mainstream. They have become right-wing pep rallies that nobody pays attention to. While the tea partiers continue to try to take over the Republican, the GOP will probably elect a progressive flip-flopper like Romney or a socialist like Michele Bachmann.

Is the mainstream Republican Party all right-wingers? The tea party doesn't have the votes to control the party. After all, the Repos nominated McCain and Bush before that, hardly extremists. The far right has come up with the slogan: RINO (Republican in name only). Yet the RINO voters keep electing moderates. Good for them
