Interesting thread.

1. How old are you by the way?

2. You mentioned you are staying at Airbnb. So you are staying on average how many days before you move to the next one? You are paying 30-35 per day right? Are you planning to rent an apartment instead? How much does a studio or 1 bedroom cost around there? But you have to sign at least a 1 year lease right? I assume there are 6 month lease but that cost more? You don't find moving from one airbnb to another frustrating though?

3. Where would you say its pretty hard to do this if you did not have a car?

4. Are there any okay extended stay places to stay at? Or are all those should be avoided? Back then i recalled some seem to be okay like extended stay america? But budget suites and siegal suites should be avoided right? But doesn't those still cost at least 900/month? Thus thats more than an apartment?

5. You ever tried the bus in vegas? Years ago i took the sdx and the deuce bus to get from strip to downtown. I know there are other buses that are not those but never took it. But are there apartments one could rent where those buses go from there directly to the strip? Would it be possible to rent an apartment short term like a studio for 3 months or 6 months and take the bus to the strip and it not being more than say 45 minutes each way? But are those areas pretty good? I heard lot of ppl in vegas live in summerlin etc where its about 10-15 minute drive but you cannot take a bus or public transportation to the strip. Well i think they said its possible but it would take over 2 hours each way because of transferring etc.

At the Wynn a poker player is a dealer there. A big time former player who had plenty of ESPN time back in the day. I believe he ran into some money and drug issues from what I recall from his story. He would be the exact profile of a poker player based on railbird's description of what scum is. He was a good dealer. Quick and kept the game moving.
Dutch Boyd is confirmed.
I assumed he was a big winner in the crypto game after his poker took a turn, as he was always talking about it on his twitch streams.
An entrepreneur, 3 WSOP bracelets, a law degree, published author and now dealing poker in Vegas. Colourful background.

Very interesting. I believe he was a figure-head for one of the poker sites that went south. Someone plz confirm that.

Yes, ESPN game him a lot of poker face-time. Won at least two WSOP bracelets. As a youtful-looking player, was known for being part of "The Crew."

2. 4-5 days to save on cleaning fees and stuff. Yes 30-35 is my range. I dont pay anymore than that. An apartment is in the plans down the road. From what I've search $1,100 a month for a decent place in a safe area. I havent looked into the lease options but what you stated is probably true. 6 months you pay more. I am enjoying the Airbnb stuff.

3. Still doable without a car and here is what I'd do. Uber or take the bus to the strip via Venetian area. From there you have Wynn, Venetian, mirage, Caesars, casino royale (will hill) and treasure island and westgate via the monorail for betting options. Some walking and hustle is needed but if you have the mindset that you can save a few hundred dollars a day by getting the best number this is worth the work. Plus the added benefit of some exercise doesnt hurt. Throw in you get comps for betting at westgate and Caesars there is some free food as a bonus.

4. I havent looked at the extended stay options but driving around I dont like the looks of those places. Rough looking apartments in rough areas.

5. I havent used the bus system since I've been here but did in previous trips and what you said is true. It is a cheap way to travel but you pay in time. If you are good with your time in terms of leaving extra early to account for delays then it's an option. Taking a bus from summerlin would be a nightmare. 1.5-2 hours on a bus instead of a 20 minute uber is not in my schedule.

I take it from your questions that there is a seed in your mind of giving it a shot. Maybe I'm reading your wrong but that's my read.

What are your thoughts?

Nice job never again. Did he deal at your table. He's had some bipolar problems which along with some vices took him away from the game. Well not for sure as he was twitching some online poker awhile back. Good dealer. But I wonder if dealing 1/3 and seeing the way ppl play makes him tilted.

Good memory with the crew. I believe he was with ultimate bet. There is a good doc about him and the crew on YouTube. Like many of these young guys they run like the sun for a period of time. Win all the money and believe it will never stop. Develop some bad habits and when the cards run sideways they get crushed and cant recover.

Dutch Boyd took the money and ran. I am surprised he’s able to show his face in the poker community, from what I remember he pulled a pretty hearty scam online

Well poker players are gutless pussies. Keyboard tough guys. There are plenty of poker guys that scammed people and nothing happens to them.

Guess it goes to show that 90% of poker player really do go busto. At one point in time, Boyd would have been considered an upper-level player.

He had the stream + the coaching. He made some deep runs. The rake gets everyone, sooner or later.

Didn't Howard Lederer screw a lot of people as well. I'm assuming there must be people out there who want to take him to the desert.

What are your thoughts?[/QUOTE]

1. When you say $1100 a month for a decent place in safe area, this obviously means not furnished right? Also when you say $1100 you mean a 1 bedroom? So how much does a 2bedroom cost then? I always thought vegas rent was cheap etc. Thus wouldn't like a 2bdroom be around $1200 or so? So you can't find a 1 bedroom for $800?

2. How long have you been staying at airbnbs for since you started doing this? You don't find it stressful to move every 5 days etc? So basically you keep everything in your apartment or car right? Also i assume everytime you rent, its always a room in someone's house or apartment right? Thus renting an apartment would cost at least 60/day minimum right?

3. Would you say its possible to find places where you take a bus to the strip though in many areas? Or only in a few? Do you know what are decent neighborhoods where you could rent a room or apartment where it doesn't take more than say 35 minutes each way to get to the strip? I know venetian, wynn, bellagio are all along the strip etc.

4. Well i heard of extended stay places and budget suites i heard is not good. But i did hear like extended stay america could be decent etc. But those still cost at least $1300 a month right?

5. I been to vegas years ago. I stayed there for a few months. I basically stayed on the strip during the weekdays and then downtown in the weekends. It was such a hassle having to check in and check out etc and i definitely would have preferred if i stayed in an extended stay place instead. Thus if i go there again, i would either rent at extended stay place, or even rent a room from someone. Moving and not being able to cook sucks etc.

6. Are you planning to find a place soon? The thing is since you plan to be there for a while, i'm curious why not find a place to stay where you are there at least a month etc? Are there many 3 month options etc?

7. Do you generally just keep the cash you have on you or in the airbnb? Obviously you aren't going to the bank to deposit/withdraw as that would be a hassle having to drive there etc. Where would you put your cash? Or you just keep it on you always? Now if you keep it in airbnb, you have to worry about theft etc. Like if someone has like 5k or 10k or more etc, you obviously would prefer to keep it somewhere where you can access it. Do you have money in those vegas betting apps? If you do, then you basically can keep the cash there right? That way you don't carry much money with you? But if you use them to deposit/withdraw everyday and make wagers, they don't care? Example such as you want to take out $1000 to play poker. Then after you play poker, you put back $1000 a bit later. Like say your cantor gaming sportsbetting account etc? But as long as you give wagers at the sportsbook, that is fine?

$800 and he might be better off living in his car.

Cheap apartments disappeared in LV many years ago along with the $19 per night hotel rooms.

Yes, he was definitely involved in one of the poker sites that went down and stole all the money. I can't recall the name off top of my head.

Yes, part of the Crew, and part of an even bigger crew of bi-polar people in the world.

He's been known to spin a tale or two, I wouldn't give him credit for anything in his background without substantial proof.

He also attempted to register a site with Two Plus Two in the name, last I heard MM had legally prevented him from following through.....

Real shady MF'er.

Summary
Poker...bad....haven't played in a few weeks.
Sports...worse...very rough patch of betting baseball.

My move to Vegas: still love it. Very happy with my decision even with the recent kick in the nuts to my bankroll that has happened the last few weeks. Just a bump in the road ..... wel at least I keep telling myself that. lol

Keep the faith man. You gotta pick yourself off of the mat with the wsop action and get over to the Rio for the softest cash game action of the year. I will be in town soon, I’ll drop ya a note.

Is there an update ? I will be in vegas soon also
Probably washed out like thousands of others. Advantage gambling in Vegas these days at a successful rate is insanely hard. Software out there can sniff out almost anything. Sports bettors getting limited after two weeks of action. Poker is an utter joke, the fish are gone. You all should see the rock garden 1-3 NL games are these days. Even guys finding stuff like off roulette wheels getting sniffed out before they can make a real score.

You want to play poker for a living? Move to California. Want to play sports at pro level? Jersey is much better. The advantage play stuff is better in tribal casinos here and there and some Midwestern markets. Vegas is not for smart gambling any more

Still in vegas. The ass kicking continues in sports....has slowed down in poker. Very close to stopping with baseball and take the time off until college football starts.

I've realized I like finding games to bet. But knowing how to bet them is something I haven't done well. I'm not good at gambling.

There still are fish at the poker tables though....which is nice when I run into them.

Good Luck, sporty. I think there's always a +EV angle in Vegas. Just have to look hard enuf.

Can you get any mileage on shopping the baseball lines hard? Baseball is a short-juice sport, and there is some line variance in Vegas.

The Vegas lifestyle gets passe after a year.....when Krackman said it has no culture or tradition he was accurate that's why
he goes to the Jersey shore often to get that home feel. JK is one of the few I know who still has the same passion for Vegas
as the first day he touched down on Vegas soil.
