When you go into a casino, do you win a lot or go broke?

When I go in to piss around and hope to hit it, I either piss away what I took, or at least double it before I am ready to leave.

I have more than tripled my money at times, only to keep chasing and piss it away:shoot:

I'm the same way. If i go to a casino i bring what I'm ok losing and if not I will try to win big (or at least double the money)

Re: When you go into a casino, do you win a lot or go broke?

My luck on poker cash games has been on the positive side the last 4 visits to A/C. Harrah's no limit sports a lot of rookies and yocals that are subject to big time slipups. However that's also the benefit of being dealt some good cards along with favorable flops.

Re: When you go into a casino, do you win a lot or go broke?

When Wink Martingale developed his system years ago, it sounded so easy. Just keep doubling that losing bet, and you will eventually win.

And sure enough, after a first losing bet, you are doubling up, not to win anything, but just to get your money back. So you are playing to stay even now! Even I could run a profitable casino with those odds. My biggest risk as casino owner now is, well, I don't have a risk. LOL. The best you, as the mark can do, is get your original money back. And that will indeed happen MOST of the time if you stay with Martingale and don't exceed the table limits.

But when that time comes and it doesn't work, it's a headache tomorrow and a heartache tonight. You will die.

Martingale is fun to play around with, but after a few losing bets just give it up. You lost. Start over. The "next roll/spin/deal" is never the answer.

Walk away. The casinos will be open tomorrow.

Re: When you go into a casino, do you win a lot or go broke?

Both! It's mathematically improbable to win a lot or go broke consistently if you make low-advantaged wagers. As a craps player who plays the pass/don't pass only, I win a lot about 20% of the time, go broke about 20%, and win/lose marginally the other 60%.

I think that's why I keep going back. If I went broke all the time, I would stop going.

When I stick to the 3 P's i do pretty good: Poker, Ponies & Pro Sports.

When I sit at the tables or play the slots I usually get murdered.

First of all, it takes discipline not to do what bigbet says he does, which is exactly what most other gamblers do because so few of them (us) have sufficient discipline.

I'm an old guy, and have done the "piss it away" thing many times, just not within the last 25 or so years. A lot of gamblers don't even last that long before their wives put a foot down - "it's me & the kids or the casino, take your choice." I've known guys that have gone either way.

A more disciplined guy will lose what he can afford to lose, or leave with what his goal was to leave with. But once again, few reading this will be capable of doing that without first experiencing a serious change-of-life moment. That, or having sufficient income that losing a few thou on most casino trips simply isn't a big deal to them.

Do you ever cash out when you hit decent scores or sit on the same machine until you hit a jackpot?

What kind of bankroll do you go with fishy, and how much do you bet a spin?

LOL, sounds nuts, right?

Well there are a few gems out there that exist. You don't just sit and play and collect the coins though. Most are progressive bonus games where you have to let the others build it for you, when they get up, you plop down and hit, next....:pop:

Re: When you go into a casino, do you win a lot or go broke?

Why spend time on -EV situations? BJ was a gold mine, and then the casinos banned you. Some poker machines had decent odds, then they changed them.

If you knowingly bet into a -EV situations, you have issues. Get help.

Will give you two SMALL examples, one with video poker, one with slots..................not going to ramble on about this because

.........1. Not going to ruin golden gooses that abound.......2. Don't have the time .........3. Don't appreciate listening to numerous naysayers, bashers, and doubters who have no clue about the actual world of video poker/slots.

Again, here are two SMALL examples.........

VIDEO POKER---These days(not as much in past), most +EV video poker evolves around casino promos of some sort.......usually in a given month, there are only a handf.ul or two of these to attack(if one does not want to go outside the state of Nevada)........one plays an a 100+% machine(easily figured out by the paytables) or one close to it when attacking these promos..........last week ThePalms had a holiday promo where they were giving extra cash for so many pts plus holiday gift cards..........couple this with a 3X pts coupon I had(this alone added .5% to the game) and one could play an array of different machines that provided close to a 101% payback, meaning one would make $1 for every $100 invested...........was able to find a machine where I was able to put over $5,000 an hour through, so on paper was making over $50 an hour for the days play(ended up running well and profited $3,900).........this play will also garninsh excellent MAILERS in the future.

On the SLOT front, another SMALL play...........many of you that frequent casinos have seen the numerous machines that have two progressives that must be hit by a certain amount, one by 50.00, the other by 500.00.........well, simply play the small progressive when it reaches 45.50 and the large one when it reaches 465.00(hopefully combined with a good slot card)........in the long, longrun, one will come out ahead(expect MASSIVE swings).

Been playng THOUSANDS of variations of slots and video poker plays like these for nearly 20 years......and as mentioned, not going to mention the better varieties that only a handful of others are aware of.........the face of this GRIND is always changing.

Overall, for me personally(not the case with some other professioal gamblers), sportsbetting has been much, much more lucrative than VP/SLOTS over the last few years.

Thanks a lot for taking the time to answer it was interesting and informative. Here in PA the slots payout structure is much much less than other states. The casino's pay more in state taxes. This is the only reason they were allowed here. Thanks again FH.

By the way, you should keep your eyes peeled for promos in your area, hit a couple up in your area a couple years ago(horsetrack in eastern PA, near Erie).

I think you might mean Western PA, FH. I am in Scranton I am about 2 hours north of Philly and 2 hours west of NYC. Mohegan Sun at Pocono downs is about 20 minutes away in Wilkes Barre PA. We also have Mt Airy which is near Stroudsburg close to New Jersey about 40 minutes away from me. I have done much better in AC which is about 3 1/2 hours away from me. Thanks again.

Re: When you go into a casino, do you win a lot or go broke?

I like to play baccarat which for the most part is a pure 50/50 game. Either Player or Banker. You can bet tie but I never bet that. I guess I'm a natural born loser when it comes to gambling because its rare for me to win 3 in a row but it never fails that I can lose 10 in a row when I play. It happens all the time and I don't understand. But I am also the subject to losing three team money line favorites at -400 each having them all lose (this has happened many times to me). I am very bad luck when it comes to chance! When it comes to poker I always never get my flush when all in in a tournament. When all in against me when a guy goes all in with a flush draw he gets it. AK vs Pair, when I have AK I get all blanks. When I have the pair AK always gets me. In a tourney yesterday I had AK went all in with 10 Big blinds left and ran into pocket AA. I have been running really bad in any sports betting or gambling for the last 5 years. I wonder when my variance will change?

I tried and almost pulled it off.....

Thought I could win $100 a day at Hawaain Gardens because I always came up that much before crashing and burning but I tried it..

Day 1 +100
Day 2 +100
Day 3-5 +100 each day

Day 6 I win $100 again in about 4 hands so I gather chips and go home (15 minutes) and drink a couple beers and say fvck it going back...

Go back and win another $100 almost as fast and leave for home again....couple of beers and shots I head back for the 3rd trip that day up $700

Lost $900

I CAN beat this game.....Times running out but I'll get there
