There is certainly some truth to this. Can you respond to this Mike? You have said many times to bet this or that as we have by far the best line out there. So when you are known for taking a stance, how is one to determine you weren't taking one on Dallas here? What is the saying? You can't have your cake and eat it to?

Well put.

did they not think to call & at least ASKKKKK is this -265 correct, as seems lil low to me .......

Your customers should call to see if the lines are valid? :+clueless

Hmmmm....

Did you call everybody that bet the -265 and let them know the bets were canceled?

Re: So I deposited a little money over at BFC today.

Again anyone that thinks i was taking a shot at them. They solicited me hours before I made the bet.

I made a thread asking about whats books do what and he PMed me!

I loved the Nuggets for the game from start to finish. Most places had anywhere from 250-300 1st half and between 465-550 or so for the game. I went with the lower # for the half because I was getting better odds.

Yes I did put every penny on it but I just sent that money in the same day. Thats how i bet. If I think its a sure thing why would i hold back.

I honestly don't understand why bfc posts on the forums. No good comes from it. I get some like the "interactive" part of bfc, but give me the books that don't talk on the forums because they are actually busy doing work.

Re: So I deposited a little money over at BFC today.

BFC is a square book. Why would anyone assume a square has access to a live lines program or that the square would even know a bad line when he sees it? We all aren't staring at Don Best or Sports Options. Many squares play at one book only and do not even know what the others are offering

Calling out everyone who took this bet as a shottaker is wrong.

So u are assuming everyone that wagers there is a square? Highly doubt it and looking at this guys picks in a few contest, he is far from a square.

This isn't a bad line. Look at percentages and not sense. I've heard that Pinny considers a bad line as being off by more then 9% of the consensus.

-1300 to -1400 is almost identical. Cents mean nothing.

The other two, NetBet777.com and BetDragon.net have the same whois registration as one of the biggest bookmaker thieves in 2008, Atlantisbets (SBR rating F). The new sportsbook, which has started an advertising campaign with at least one forum website, has copied the about us page and terms of service from SBG Global (SBR rating D-). SBG customer service states they are unrelated to BFC. BFC uses an unknown brand of software, also used by BetCascade (SBR rating F). SBR will ask FirstClass management to comment before initiating rating coverage.

Re: So I deposited a little money over at BFC today.

Sorry if already posted
This is from a Pinnacle Pulse article a few years ago.

Quote:
Although very few books offer such a comprehensive range of events and wagering options, no matter how big or how small the operation, pricing mistakes - though infrequent - can and do occur. When pricing mistakes happen, they are always a major cause of friction between the player and the book as canceling wagers tends to be a lose-lose situation that only generates negative publicity.

From our perspective at Pinnacle Sports, canceling wagers because someone has bet into a bad line can be a real logistical headache. A supervisor must evaluate what happened, an attempt must be made to notify the players concerned and the players? accounts are flagged for future reference.

If you see a game line at ?+7? when it should be ?-7?, it?s pretty clear someone flipped a sign and this would be a clear case of a ?bad line?. At reputable sports books like Pinnacle Sports, you can expect these wagers to be cancelled, but at a dishonest book, you could be asking for trouble. Less reputable shops will take a shot at the player ? only canceling the wager after the event IF the bet wins.

But what if a ?bad line? is not so clear-cut? How do you know if a number is a ?bad line? and not just the house taking a position on a game?

A general rule of thumb is that a number is bad if it gives you a 7% EV (expected value) versus the market price. Consider a baseball moneyline with a no-vig market price of -120. This suggests that side will win (120/220) = 54.5% of the time. If you found this game priced at +100, the EV is (0.545 ? 0.455) = 9%. This is probably a bad line.

In the NBA and College hoops, a number off 2 full points, or a total off 3 full points could be considered ?bad?. It?s unlikely that a book will attempt to cancel wagers in this scenario, but these situations often cause uproar across the gambling forums.

That being said, using the 7% EV rule it?s much harder to argue that there are bad lines on futures. Consider the future ?Arizona Diamondbacks to win the World Series: +15000,? which is the current price available at Pinnacle Sportsbetting. Would +30000 be a bad number?

If you assume +15000 is the correct price, this wager will win (1/150) = 0.66% of the time. The EV on Arizona at +30000 would be 0.0066 (300) ? 0.9934 = 0.99%. While the number may look bad, a bookmaker really isn?t giving up that much by offering higher odds on a long-shot. However, these are the situations where the public will be more sympathetic to the book if bets are indeed cancelled.

To avoid possible disappointment, if you see a number that might be a bad line and have any doubts, don?t bet into them. Contact the sportsbook first, preferably by email. You might be surprised to learn that many books will reward your honesty by awarding you a bonus. If a sportsbook emails you back saying the line is good, you can fire away knowing it would be very hard for them to cancel it later.

The alternative ? betting into a bad number ? only works if 1) it isn?t caught before the game, and 2) they don?t free-ride you through the game. Keep your life simple, notify the book and pass on bad lines.

Re: So I deposited a little money over at BFC today.

IMO after reading through this thread....it seems to me the lines manager messed up when posting a line for that particular game

either way you cut it....there are players out there who spend 24hrs a day fishing for bad lines....they seen the off line and unloaded on it

IMO I didnt think using the excuse it was a "incorrect" line held any water here

I think the lines manager might have been drunk that day...using another books line as a standard is weak...why not just close down and direct all your customers somewhere else then

I wouldnt say the player "took a shot" in this case

I would say that the player beat the linesmaker in this case

maybe this book needs a new lines manager? :shoot:

Re: So I deposited a little money over at BFC today.

good info, raiders.

According to the Pinnacle Pulse article, -322 and -265 is not considered a bad line. Assuming Pinnacle's -322 is a fair market value for the bet, it follows that a fair expectation of it winning is 76.3%. Now consider -265, which can be expected to win 72.6% of the time. The difference is only 3.7%. So while it may seem a big jump from -322 to -265, the book offering the lower price of -265 is giving a 3.7% advantage to the player. 3.7%, would not be a bad line (using a minimum of 7% off fair market price to qualify as a bad line).

The difference is only 3.7%. .. so there's no good reason to call -265 to -322 a bad line based on the expected value to win. Mathematically, there's not a lot of difference.

It looks like the shop that hung -265 while the fair market value was -322 is calling it a bad line based on the side effect of getting lopsided action. They had many players unload.. But on the other hand, hey, lopsided action is not uncommon. Many games have most of the money on one side.. Disclaimer: I read page 1 of this thread and this last page, skipping everything in between. If I'm missing something please flame me harshly and I will go back and read the dirty little motherfucker.

agree. It's opinionated, not bad.

Agree. BFC posted an opinionated line and got buried on it. It was not a bad line per se, but definitely leaning toward one side (intentional, or not). The problem for them is they got buried on one side - large. Play with fire and get burned. A true online bookmaker, or just a bookie located offshore is an existential question for BFC right about now. Online players don't play nice and they bang "opinionated" lines like a worthless ass whore.
