the TX lt gov(patrick) was on last night and said they have 7200 ICU beds filled, only 1500 are covid patients, so if they're full, which they're not, it's not because of the pandemic. it doesn't matter either way, NY had 19000 beds filled at the peak - population wise TX would have to hit 30K to equal them. Right now they're at 4400.

States with most cases over last 72 hours:

Texas 17,000
Ca 15,000
Fl 13,000
Zona 11,000
Georgia 8,000

All these states rushed to reopen. RepubliCons in Ca. were threatening Gov. Officials physically and with lawsuits to reopen. The other 4 states have horrible RepubliCon Governors.

To combat record-breaking new cases and hospitalizations of the novel coronavirus, Gov. Greg Abbott issued a new executive order Friday ordering bars to close by noon and reducing restaurants’ capacity to 50%.

Bars may remain open for delivery and take-out services, including for alcoholic drinks. By Monday, restaurants must return to 50% dine-in capacity. Previously, bars had been permitted to reopen at 50% capacity, and restaurants were allowed to operate at up to 75% occupancy.

BunkerBoy should send military special forces down to Texas. This is unacceptable.

Utah and California, two of the 23 states seeing huge spikes in new COVID-19 cases after easing movement restrictions, are tightening curbs once again.

It's looking increasingly possible Utah will impose a complete lockdown by July 1 as COVID-19 cases surged after Gov. Gary Herbert (R) loosened movement restrictions on May 14. The Utah Department of Health (DOH) sent Herbert and other state and local officials a memo Monday stating a complete lockdown appears the only feasible option on the table after admitting contact tracing and testing won't be enough to curb the rapid spread of COVID-19.

DOH said the current surge began 12 days after Herbert loosened restrictions by downgrading the state's coronavirus alert level to “yellow” (or low-risk) from "orange" (moderate-risk).

"This might be our last chance for course correction," wrote Dr. Angela Dunn, the state epidemiologist, in the DOH memo. "Utahns care about these colors. They change their actions based on them. They are the key messaging tool to the public."

DOH wants Herbert to return the state to "orange" if new daily cases don't fall to 200 by July 1. The state has averaged 471 new daily cases during the past week, which makes a sudden drop to 200 in just highly unlikely.
“We are quickly getting to a point where the only viable option to manage spread and deaths will be a complete shutdown,” said Dr. Dunn.

Agree.

Do you not think if we can keep deaths on the downswing we are doing the right thing by opening up?

Or you think we wait until the thing is totally eradicated in 2 years?

I'm for opening, but in a careful way, If I had the power I would make mask wearing and social distancing mandatory in every state that's open, with a few exceptions. I would require all restaurants to have their servers wear masks and gloves for example

Same folk saying dead are mostly seniors now saying body count more important than case count.

How many people does a dead senior potentially infect vs a person testing positive?

How many days work does a dead senior miss vs the cumulative total of days missed by a live case and everyone potentially infected by that live case? Inclusive of quarantine for cause?

Does a dead old person affect the economy more than a live case?

It would appear that the lowest # of live cases would be the optimum for a country's economy rather than dead old folk in a metal drawer.

Or was all this bellyaching about the economy, death count and old folk just another idiot talking point?

Is there a brain dead math hat who can throw up the rolling dead old folk count superimposed over some key economic indicators vs. the same for active cases? Comparing the USA to the rest of the world?

It won't be pretty, I read the indicators and Covid stats daily. Global, not just the kingdom of Don. Don't forget kids, the stock market ain't the economy.

Let's do another run of the same numbers minus stimulus and helicopter money too, for the hilarity of the matter.

The results will blow you fukkin myopic shut in little world pandemic experts right out the shallow end of the kiddy pool.

A sick and quarantined country ain't too productive folks. Assuming the US is enforcing quarantine for positive cases and those they have come in direct contact with. Or do they get their results, pop a Trump tablet of hydroxy and return to work or "Happy hour"?

Either way you are fukked, so far gone no stats mean jack fukk anyway.

I now return you to Chief Epidemiologist Michael Fester's rolling bullshit and a whole host of contradictory, spun the fukk out, idiot talking points.

How do you know Gov Patrick is being honest? What if he's lying about the number of covid patients to make himself look better since Texas was a state that opened early. If Patrick was a Dem, you'd be questioning his honesty, but since he's a republican you just take everything he says as fact, we both know if he was a Dem you would be accusing him of "cooking the books".

quote Dr. Fester the Texas labor and productivity survey for June as soon as it is available. Shove his useless numbers up his ass.

Shame on you Kane! How dare you question the resident EOG epidemiology expert Dr Charlie(n)

Pattycakes will interpret this as positive news. Gov. Desantis is a star except for the fact that he's scientifically illiterate.

In fact, Gov DeSantis in Florida was caught "cooking the books", he had officials intentionally lower the amount of Covid cases to make himself look better, unfortunately for him the scientist who created Florida's dashboard didn't want to lie to Floridians, so she refused to do what DeSantis wanted and she got fired, her name is Rebekah Jones. So if the Gov of Fla lied about cases of Covid, why can't the Gov of Tex do the same?

I read about Jones. Out of her own goodwill she started a new and accurate FLA dashboard to help the citizens stay better informed

These govs should be encouraging young people to get the virus, keep the bars open 24 hrs a day with discounted drinks. Every positive that does nothing to the health care system is a great thing. That's right $1 drinks all day, every day in TX.

Deaths aren't rising, who cares about cases.

I think they said 85% of the people in Florida who have died from COVID are 65 years and over.

Sure, if possible it's great to keep infections down too but deaths are the bottom line.

If there's a good thing about this it's that younger people down here are the one's sending the numbers through the roof........

I'm going to assume the percentage of them dying will remain very low.

Down here 1 in 50,000 people under 65 will die from this.

And blacks are 3.5 more times to die than whites (based on respective populations).

If you're a white dude under 65 and even remotely take care of yourself you got really good odds you are going to come out fine.

But what about the people you give it too? That doesn't matter to the selfish RepubliCons. It's always about their constitutional rights. It's always about them!

I'm watching this briefing, they all say they're concerned, but are working on it, tracking it, etc. Then fauci comes on and is all doom and gloom. Trump needs to toss him in the dumpster.

They all say "young people are getting covid, and none of them are getting sick, it's terrible" doesn't sound that terrible.

Once you get your resume into BunkerBoys hands he will replace Fauci with you faster than you can say “It’s over”
