2005 NFL Draft

When you look at this draft, its absolutely shocking that Rodgers fell into the 20s. I know its 16 years in rear view mirror, but this draft was littered with busts. Rodgers just stands out by a mile as the top player. I think Alex Smith was the only other one still active as recent as last year:

Considering the average playing career of a NFL player is a little over 4 years. It's amazing anyone is
still around.

Frank Gore was in that draft. He was the Jets leading rusher last year. Richie Incognito is on the Raiders roster this year.

there was still a size bias in 2005, Aaron was only 6 1

Years ago, BIRDIE criticized me about showing favor to tall quarterbacks who stay in the pocket.

My retort: Tom Brady is 6-4, Peyton Manning is 6-5.

Let's now update the list to include Justin Herbert at a towering 6-6.

RAILBIRD's response: Jamarcus Russell was 6-6 and Dan McGwire was 6-8.

With any profiling, there are usually exceptions to the rule.

However, in this short study of tall quarterbacks, I'm still not sure what's the rule and what's the exception.

A case-by-case review is usually the best way to go.
