Woodrow is stuck. He has to fake it until the end at which point he will get exposed or he has to admit he is out at which point I will pounce. At which point I will pounce!

I predict he will say he sold his fake entry for $250,000. I shouldn't give him suckout ideas but it's pretty obvious even for that addlebrain.

Be interesting to see how many times the Raiders' opponent is selected in Survivor going forward.

Things could change overnight, but I think Pierce lost the team with his "business decisions" comment after the game a couple of games or so back.

And looking on Wikipedia, he has a checkered record at best. Per that resource:

"On February 7, 2014, Pierce was named the head coach at national powerhouse Long Beach Polytechnic High School, replacing Raul Lara, who stepped down as the head coach of the program after 13 seasons. After an 11–2 first season, the Jackrabbits struggled under Pierce, missing the playoffs for the first time in 36 years in his second season at the helm. The struggles continued in 2016 and 2017, with the program failing to reach double digit wins in both years and getting blown out in the playoffs." [footnote omitted; bold emphasis added]

Sounds like maybe a guy who says the right psychobabble to get into a position, and then has some initial success motivating the players, but ultimately perhaps rubs the players the wrong way and turns a program into a losing one. Like with his "business decisions" comment -- in a game where in particular Maxx Crosby was playing hurt when he really shouldn't have been playing at all given how the injury impacted his performance. He was a shell of his uninjured self in terms of what he could do. But he cared enough to get out there and try.

Davis should have realized that players just about always bond with the interim coach in that first interim season. It's what athletes do, they bond with their teammates and leaders in the thick of the battle, like a bunch of newborn puppies in a box. "Very mammalian," as the line from a romantic comedy with Ed Harris went back in the day.

Over and above the fact that anyone replacing Josh McDaniels would be an extreme relief, at least in the short term.

But owners -- usually -- don't make permanent hiring decisions based on what the players are saying as the interim season wraps.

So, as best as I recall, I was a bit surprised when Davis went with Pierce.

Anyway, just my random thoughts on the state of the Raiders heading into WK 07 . . . .

The only thing that would make this weekend complete is Woodrow's fake survivor entry getting eliminated. That may be asking too much since it's fake.

I think Woodrow was the 1 entry on the Vikings and he is too embarrassed to fess up. Or I am right originally and the whole thing is fake! Somebody pm me this bum's entry name if it is real.

If it is real, there are multiple posters who knows his entry. Discretion is assured although I can't account for JK reading the pm. I always say hello to JK when I pm kane.

Check it out before the @CircaSports and @SuperBookNV deadlines hit!

[Guess that weren't aware of my "listen to no one" mantra . . . especially before the picks go in.]

The "1 entry advanced and 1 was eliminated" line from the Survivor count tweet reminds me of Thunderdome with Tina Turner and Mel Gibson. "Two men enter, one man leaves."

OK, this is my dumb question for the night, or the next one anyway.

I don't do survivor contests so I've never really spent any time working through the strategy considerations for that type of contest.

Each week, you see contestants apparently with multiple entries putting them all on either one or maybe two teams -- like 3 entries on the Broncos and 3 on the Dolphins (the six picks under the alias Jax Jags and Jax Jags 2.0 this week).

I would have thought that the point of having multiple entries would be to diversify and spread my risk. If I still have six entries but I put them on only two teams collectively, that would seem to be the equivalent of just having two entries in terms of risk. If those two teams go down, I'm out just like I had only 2 entries left heading into the week rather than 6.

If I recall correctly, you can't use the same team twice on an entry and you have to be able to save at least one of the teams from the Thanksgiving mini-week for the entry or that entry will automatically be eliminated that week.

But it's not all that hard to keep track of which teams you've used on each separate entry.

So what's the advantage of putting all of your eggs in just one or two baskets when you have enough baskets (in this metaphor) to put each separate egg in a separate basket each weekend?

Are there just not enough reliable winners each week to diversify as I'm describing without winding up losing more entries that way than instead just using one or two teams across multiple entries?

And if that's the case, what's the advantage then of multiple entries if the better strategy in practice is to concentrate risk in just one or at most two teams each week?

As I say, I don't do survivor contests, so it's a whole different world for me in terms of contest strategy.

* * * * *

Is maybe the idea with multiple entries on just the same few picks each week an effort to get to the stretch run with multiple entries still alive so that the player can then claim a larger piece of any last minute chop?

* * * * *

Or maybe to keep enough entries alive so that the contestant can just mechanically sacrificially hedge - playing both sides of a game on different entries - down the final stretch? (If allowed by the rules.)

Interesting looking at Circa Survivor entries with multiple picks alive, heavily weighed to starting with the max 10:

#With #Alive Started-With(#)
1 6 10(1)
5 3 10(4)
12 2 10(9) (+ one started with 9)

Of 18 with 2 or more alive, 14 started with 10, 1 with 9, 2 with 5 and 1 with 2.

22 out so far today, I need Denver. could use a Seahawk comeback for a beautiful parlay but that's unlikely. charger game close also, could be saints come marching second half. IDK
