Betting the dogs in All-Star games...

I thought this way years ago thinking "well - meaningless game, talent on both sides is fairly even, no real home advantage, so might as well take the points or +odds".
But when the books favor one team over the other, there's always reasons for it. Like anything else, books just want to draw even action. They think more people might have wanted to bet the West so they beat them to the punch by making them lay 4 or 5 points. Maybe they figure the West is more popular because they have Kobe Bryant or because the game is in Houston so you figure the Rockets players will have good games.
The East got the win tonight but that game and cover could have gone either way really. I would not advise blindly taking the underdog in any All Star kind of game. If it was that easy of a winner to get, everyone would be on it.
