Blake Griffin

The opening odds start here
The downward spiral continues for the Detroit forward. Will not play until the team explores buyout or trade options. What team that could use him makes the best sense?

That 5 year $171m contract he signed was utterly ridiculous.

Wanna see the on button on that dude put him on a playoff team with good spacing. Can still beat any big to the hoop 1-1 probably knock the dust off his jumper too. Defense? Meh to Yuk.

The salary seems bad but the league doesn't value cheap contracts. There are more trade partners with that cap space, chances are Detroit would have to take someone elses bad contract though. Agree with Billy, could be a nice piece on a good team.

He's kind of a reflection of how the game has changed, he was an inside offensive force when teams valued that. Now he's been forced by scheme to become a floor spacer which he does OK at, but he's not worth the contract as that type of player. The change has cut down on his ability to contribute in other stat categories and taken away all the easy buckets he used to get. Centers or true power forwards that play most of the time inside or around the key are pretty rare and are not getting paid this kind of money any longer. A smart team can get him and return him to that type of role because at the end of the day his defense doesn't hurt you as much when you aren't facing those types of players much either. Just a question of who has space to take this kind of hit.

Not a lot of logical fits here, but the list is really every team that has either space or high-priced contracts to send back. I think the Nuggets could actually use him and get rid of a couple of bad contracts they have. Of course their coach only likes guys who play defense so he'd hate it, but that's actually a logical fit if they sent Barton and Harris to the Pistons. I just don't know if those players and any other filler would be interesting to them.

Right now in Detroit, we have the worst owners possible!

Tom Gores, who Blake was supposed to be his superstar hero.
Chris Illitch who doesn't have the same passion as his father did for the Detroit Tigers
Chris Illitch who again, doesln't have the same passion his father did for the Red Wings
And of course the Ford family and the Lions, 1 playoff win since 1957, no super bowl appearances, need I say more.

Every one of those teams needs a veteran big man.

The other factor besides Harris being done is if his contract expires. If so, then he's marketable. Rebuilding teams are always looking for expiring contracts.

Harris has 3 seasons left on his deal, its toxic. I still have no clue what they were thinking giving him that kind of dough. He was just a "guy" who played decent D before he got the extension.

I read that his legs don't have juice right now, that's why he's become a passive player and outside shooter. Maybe keeping him on the bench is the best way to give him some time to heal up and keep some bad footage off the tape. He's probably never going to recover all of what he had, but fresh legs for the postseason could get another team some much needed help. Sounds like the rest of the league is just sitting back and waiting for the Pistons to buy him out so they can get him on the cheap.
