Have only given a brief look at Saturday's card. Early thoughts are: Californians on dirt, Euros on turf, and Chad Brown anywhere his horse fits. Looks like several definitive favorites, but on a day like BC day, all favorites are vulnerable.

I enjoy watching the races but very tough to bet, I don't think I've had but 1 winning day on BC Cup.

Strict whip rules but the fines are definitely not a deterrent. Insignificant compared to a jocks share of the purse money Saturday

Steve Asmussen, one of the winningest trainers of all time, is in a horrible slump. If you exclude horses he sends out at the minor tracks (Delta, Indiana, Remington, etc) and just focus on the big circuits (Kentucky and New York) where he's stabled, here's his record since the start of Keeneland, Oct 8:

79 horses
2 winners

One paid $6.20 and the other $3.20. So it may make one think twice about betting Jackie's Warrior at even money or less. No matter how good he looks on paper, something is wrong in that barn right now.

Hard to pass on the Breeders' Cup with large fields and massive pools.

I like the way organizers have featured the two-year-olds on Friday and the older stars on Saturday.

Now let's stick with the schedule to build tradition.

On Friday, there are five Breeders’ Cup races, all restricted to 2-year-olds.

On Saturday, there are nine, all for horses 3 and up.

Much of the Breeders' Cup coverage will be televised by NBC Sports Network, which unfortunately is going out of business at the end of the year.

Friday’s coverage goes from 2-6 p.m. PST.

On Saturday, it’s on NBCSN from 11:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Slump over? Asmussen with 2 wins from 3 starters today at Churchill......both were favored. He's "up" to 4 for last 83 now. And has the current 4/5 favorite in the next Breeders Cup race.

Final time was 1:42.24.

We can compare this time to the time of the Breeders' Cup Juvenile as a test of quality.

Order of finish: 1-12-11-3.

From last to first.

#1 Pizza Bianca is owned by Bobby Flay, trained by Christopher Clement and ridden by Jose Ortiz.

Clement is now 1-for-43 in Breeders' Cup action.

Winner closed at 9/1.

Corniche wins the Breeders' Cup Juvenile.

Baffert/Smith, the trainer-jockey combo.

That's 27 BC wins for Smith, he's the all-time leading BC jock in victories.

Expect a trainer change for Corniche.

Churchill Downs unilaterally suspended Bob Baffert from their grounds for two years.
