In an Instagram post on Saturday night, Griner’s wife thanked “everyone who has reached out” with prayers and support. Cherelle Griner said she loves Brittney “wholeheartedly” and called this “one of the weakest moments” of her life.

At 6-foot-9, she was told in high school and college to get to the low block and call for the ball.

That's the right strategy to win at the amateur level but it stunted her growth as a professional.

Interestingly, it was discovered she has a decent face-up game and a reliable shot from 15 feet.

But her offensive game did not develop until two or three years into her WNBA career.

Unlike a lot of tall girls, she runs the court well.

Substitute black athletic qbs for Griner and that applies also. Getting by on athletic ability and not getting coached correctly.
