Announced earlier that the 73-year-old former Blue Jays player, manager, and now broadcast booth announcer is stepping away due to cancer.

No stage nor part of body mentioned, but I hope he receives effective treatment on the way to a recovery.

A lot of back-up catchers graduate to either a manager's job or a broadcasting job.

Buck did both.

I wish him nothing but the best. As I Tweeted - he is in for a sucky ride if he has to undergo chemo. He will lose all of his hair as well as strength, stamina and will to live. I know he will have an amazing support staff to help him get thru a battle I would not wish on my worst enemies. Actually - my 2 worst enemies - I would. But other than those 2 - nope
