Chris Paul Trade

Why would PHO break up the chemistry they had in the bubble for a 35 year old point guard on his last legs?

Rubio was finding his groove in PHO with a improved outside game.....so now they assume a huge contract
and go from 46 wins to maybe 49-50!?

When has the "future is now" worked in any sport?

I appreciate Chris Paul because he plays both ends of the court.

His listed height is 6-1 but I'll bet the UNDER.

Rubio isn't getting any better and couldn't really deliver points himself. CP3 contract ends in a year, I don't blame them for taking a shot. If it doesn't work out, they probably can trade him as a huge expiring at the deadline and get something of value out of it. But good chance it does work out, they are wearing out Booker on the offensive end. Also gives Ayton a chance to become a bigger contributor with the PNR. I like the trade personally, they need to get serious about being regular playoff contenders and they have a lot of seats to sell post pandemic in a redo of their arena. Maybe it works out and they get him to sign again at a lower figure now that he got paid and this becomes a 2-3 year run with the team.

He's been to one conference title in 15 years on a better team...really, where is PHO going with this including a #1 pick too?

Yup....OKC now has more number ones than a Miss Universe pageant....

The bust rate on players drafted outside #10 is so high that #1 picks that you believe will be non-lottery are just trade chips now. Good teams that are contending don't really want the commitment that comes with them, they'd rather have #2s that they stash away in Europe or G and see if anything develops there. OKC was a competitive team with playoff potential and they tore it down now trying to build it back better. Lots of teams have tried that, few have had a lot of success.
