horse tracks should have changed their model 40+ years ago to match ups. A fast nickel would have been a better bet than the slower dime.

Horse racing can't compete with sports betting in terms of 1 vs 1 betting options. The big exotics are the appeal of racing, albeit with high takeout.

One amendment: The higher takeout (20-25%) in the daily double or Pick 3 or Pick 4 wagers results is diminished because the higher takeout is applied only once, unlike a win bet parlay where the lower takeout (15-19%) is extracted multiple times.

That's true. I used to love the multirace wagers in the 90s. Eventually the public smartened up, and lower bet limits, enabled many more combinations to be covered.

If memory serves, Santa Anita once offered bet minimums of $3 in Pick 3 pools and $5 in exacta pools.

These days, if you have a dime in your pocket, you can still place a wager.

The Chicago Bears should buy Arlington Park....excellent site for a future stadium.....
There has been talk about that in the past. Problem is the Bears are not buying anything, they would expect someone else (Arlington Heights or the state) to buy it and they will move in.

My first thought was the Bears just renovated Soldier Field. But then I realize, that was nearly 20 years ago.

I'm just shocked we haven't had a Chicago area racetrack burn to the ground in 35 years.

The bears used AP for leverage against the Park district to get the renovations. Chicago has the poorest billionaires between the Mccaskeys and the Ricketts families

Sad but true. No surprise on the McCaskeys, but I am surprised on the Ricketts. I've been away from Chicago for over 5 years. What happened to the Ricketts? TD Ameritrade go bad? I can't imagine that happening. Too much Wrigley renovations?

As for the Bears, the best thing that could happen would be to get ownership out of the incompetence of the McCaskey family.

They sold Ameritrade but that was mainly the fathers. He bought the kids the Cubs. Well their $500 million Wrigleyville renovation cost over a billion. They thought the city and state would chip in, neither did. Now they have to pay for that, the Wrigley Field renovations, Marquee Network (money loser), and a pandemic with no money coming into the area. The Ricketts just talk about losing money in biblical proportions now.

I believe they were very active in holding and sponsoring Trump fund raising events. A very sad family except for the anti Trump daughter, Laura!

I usually root for the underdog. Conservatives and Republicons want to take away her rights too choose. It's a daily fight for many Americans. Even worse in other parts of the world.
She has it pretty good here compared to most countries. Born rich and will be in demand for inclusion the rest of her life.

The Packers, Ravens and Patriots have done fabulous jobs of building up the community surrounding their stadiums.

SoFi Stadium in Inglewood is going to rejuvenate that downtrodden Inglewood neighborhood.

Staples Center is more than just the basketball arena.

These sports teams are now focused on building little cities on big patches of land.

Could the Bears build out Soldier Field at that location in Chicago?
