Dallas Wings of the WNBA have the first two picks of their draft.....

The youngest team in the WNBA only figures to get younger.

Dumped head coach Brian Agler last October in favor of former WNBA player (NY Liberty and SA Stars) and former assistant WNBA coach (LV Aces) Vickie Johnson.

Out with the older white male (age 62), in with the younger black female (age 48).

Vickie Johnson is now the only black female among 12 head coaches in a league in which more than 85% of the players are black females (no transgenders just yet).

Dallas president and CEO Greg Bibb calls the shots for the Wings.

Dallas already has two young stars in Arike Ogunbowale and Satou Sabally, that's a shoot-first point guard and a super-athletic power forward.

The Wings should get an up-close look at the 2021 WNBA Draft candidates during the women's D-1 tourney this March in San Antonio.

Looks like a weak draft class from everything I read.

One draft tip: Forget the back-to-the-basket post players and focus on point forwards who can dribble and shoot (think Breanna Stewart and Elena Delle Donne).

One-dimensional post players have become dinosaurs in the NBA and the WNBA is headed in that direction as well.

Curt Miller (Connecticut), Mike Thibault (Washington) and Bill Laimbeer (Las Vegas) are my top three WNBA coaches.

Nicki Collen (Atlanta), Sandy Brondello (Phoenix) and Walt Hopkins (New York) are at the bottom of my list.

Why do sports bettors focus so heavily on head coaches?

We're searching for games that have already been won or lost before they're even played.

Wonder if Bill Laimbeer and his team will relax a bit on the night when he first meets Vickie Johnson, his former assistant coach?

That's the Las Vegas Aces versus the Dallas Wings.

black females suck as coaches. White males over Black females is a very strong angle

Sad to see Pokey Chatman and Amber Stocks no longer in the league.

A white female, Katie Smith, was clueless, too.

The most inept male coach?

There's a reason no NBA teams were interested in Michael Cooper.

But the beauty of Cooper's ineptitude: He coached a Sparks roster filled with talent so the market often installed Cooper's teams as the favorite.

In all point spread sports, I like to bet smart, well-prepared coaches with a roster of subpar talent (puts you on the underdog).

Additionally, I like to bet against clueless, napping coaches with top-tier talent in the lineup (puts you on the underdog again).

TYVM Morgan William!!!
.............and then Dallass got even better by trading "our fave" player away. She eventually landed on the best team in the league and maybe being able to play with 2 UConn legends might be the fire she needs to save a career that won't be much more unless she can stay healthy and show some toughness - 2 thing she had sorely lacked. I wish her well but expecting her to change her game now is asking for a lot.

Katie Lou Samuelson, she is who she is.

A finesse player with an offensive mentality at the three-point line.

Not tough enough to play the defensive end of the floor.

There's a reason she'll be playing with her third team in three seasons.

......and next season it will probably be: 4 for 4

We said at the time picking her 4th made no sense and the Sky must have thought they were drafting someone to "replace" EDD (tall, white and attractive) but instead got someone who might be colleting checks from the EDD soon. Picking her instead of Napheesa Collier made no sense at the time - makes even less now:

And I love Napheesa Collier's game.

Too bad Maya Moore stepped away from basketball when Collier entered the league.

Collier and Moore would make an excellent tandem.

One other note about Katie Lou Samuelson: Chicago fleeced Dallas last season by obtaining Azura Stevens in exchange for Katie Lou and a 2021 first-round pick.

Stevens suffered an injury late last season but when healthy, she's a quality big.

Napheesa Collier recently married Alex Bazzell, a basketball trainer to the stars (Kyrie Irving and Trae Young).

Researching the 2021 WNBA Draft, the Wings not only have the top two picks but also the fifth and seventh selections in the first round.

Tough break for the Wings that the draft class appears weak.

Its funny, I get as excited for the WNBA as much as I do most other leagues from a betting stand point.

It will be fun to watch how the Liberty will find it's way to be pathetic again. They have 6 of the exact same/cloned players who do the same things, fail to do the same things, rotating onto the floor on a nightly basis.

Aces and Lynx are the top two teams hands down in my opinion heading into the season. Off season acquisitions for both, combined with the development of some budding stars, especially in the Lynx case with Collier and Dangerfield.

I'm looking for a down season from the Sky and an up season from the Dream. I like the mix in the backcourt that Atlanta offers.

I don't care for New York's head coach Walt Hopkins.

He wanted to play fast with one of the worst rosters in the league.

No shot was a bad shot, in his opinion.

Everyone had a green light.

I downgraded him five games into the season.

Unless, of course, he was trying to lose which is a real possibility.

Eager to see Sabrina Ionescu return off her injury.
