how often do bookmakers shift lines around to induce action.

I think all the time especailly in the last couple hours.

HEre is why, if the number sits the same all week, the betting public gets the true feeling that this number is so close to perfect its not worth taking a shot at. Think of a monday night game that does not move at all, thats a lot of handle lost

now if you shift that line around you get two things

you get the steam players jumping on it as , AHHH the smart money came in and now I know which side or total to play,,,,,,and you get the contrarian players or value players saying ahhhhh finally a small overlay Ill go against the move.

see how a 1 point move sparks action?

now do this over and over and over agian over the last 2 hours and you intice hundereds of thousands of dollars that would be on the sidelines......
