Dwayne Haskins

He's still young, don't know if he just needs a change of scenery, or he isn't good enough, some team will sign him and give him a shot

Poor guy is in dire straights now.
He got money for nothing, chicks for free.
love that song by Dire Straits. one thing i would disagree is "chicks for free" line. As a buddy of mine always says "free pussy"is the most expensive thing in life. Of course he is not a Rock Star.

The opening odds start here
They couldn't have waited until the end of the season, even with the NFC Least on the line. Then again, they have the right 2 QBs they need.

I was definitely think'n on draft day that The Team should have taken either Tagovailoa or Herbert.

I know they had a grip~load of things to think about, and Young looks sweet, but you just can't have the quarterback the weak~link on a team in the NFL.

My track record of QB predictions isn't very good, I thought Haskins would be good and Herbert a bust, although I'm not alone is being wrong on Herbert, many here thought the same regarding him

Haskins probably a bust, but I wouldn't annoint Herbert too much yet. He's ahead of schedule, but who knows how much he elevates his game down the road. I personally think he's maxed out some of his effectiveness because he already has plenty of talent around, all that's left is to start winning the close games which is somewhat on him but also greatly on the coaching. Lesser young QBs on bad teams with a lack of talent may have some more upside. Put him on Cincy this year and he may have looked like a total bust just like if you put Burrow on the Chargers and you might have seen an even bigger star in the making.

If you spend your 1st pick drafting QBs every season, you are going to have a really bad team.

How about this draft strategy, WildBill?

Draft a quarterback in every round until you find your guy.

After two or three seasons, you'll have 15-20 prospects to see if you have one winner.

Tom Brady and Bart Starr were both selected 199th in their respective drafts.

Warren Moon and Kurt Warner went undrafted.

Yeah sure. Sounds great until you remember that you can only reasonably keep 3 guys during cut down and then hope none of them gets signed elsewhere so you add them to the PS. Then again you probably want some position variety on the PS in case you have injuries so some of those guys you are going to draft and they will end up on someone else's team. If you cut a 2nd or 3rd round QB you best believe someone else is going to pick him up immediately and be willing to keep him as their 3rd QB. Plus the guy you used last year probably needs to make the roster. So yeah cutting at least 5 of your 7 draft picks probably not a winning idea either JK.

It's amazing what a inexact science the NFL draft is....teams spend millions, scouts at combines and team
practices yet so many first round busts. Sure injury is a factor but Haskins had nothing to do with that.

I think a lot of teams do it to themselves though. They react to fans and owners who want to win all the freaking time and have zero patience for development. So you get a different system on both sides of the ball every couple of years and players are always going to be better suited for some systems than others. That's part of the secret of great dynasty teams, they had very clear systems that called for certain types of players. When you draft into that, you are going to do so much better than these clown show organizations.

Haskins being out at the strip club (maskless) certainly didn't help matters.

If you're going to be out making headlines the week of a playoff push you better play well.

My gut is he's a very immature kid at this point in his life......

I don't think it's just his play although it can argued that was enough on it's own.

Its so funny reading all these hot takes and hearing about how his life is messed up now. He's guaranteed $14 million, sounds like more than what 99% of EOG posters are going to make in their lifetimes. Throw in the dumbass writers on the net in that group too, its plenty of money. Plus the guy grew up in Potomac MD. You all should be so lucky, there's a lot of money floating around in that town so I don't think he's going to blow it in the ghetto as some seem to imply. He'd probably do well in life if he didn't play football and just got a degree. Maybe that's the problem, his heart just ain't that into football and being great at it. That was Andrew Luck at the end of his career. People that are comfortable have better options and don't fit in with those who live and breathe it. Why doesn't that get written instead of the dumb nonsense being said out there?

Right now I'd take Haskins over Cousins. At least with Haskins, there is still a 0.05% upside factor. Cousins doesn't even have that.

I just can't stand people whether it's Haskins, Manziel, Justin Blackmon who have the talent who seemingly don't possess the motivation or drive to succeed after getting drafted in the 1st round. You know how great you have to be to be drafted that high in the world? Its such a double blow when you're set to be the franchise QB for years for a team.

Snyder's son talked him into this selection.....some high school connection I believe in the area where
Haskins was a stud.

Many QBs are simply not smart enough or disciplined enough to learn the system. See Manning's work ethic. Lots of these guys would rather hang at the strip club until 4 am rather than study film

I'm think'n you sorta have to give a QB around 3 years to see if he's going to pan~out.

Just don't think Haskins marketability is what the NFL is looking for, especially now. If your not marketable, you tend to get those untimely, sucky, lame, corrupt camera angles and holding and PI calls that knock you out of the playoffs.

Hope he pans~out, but...and that's a big butt.

You need to get guys that really love football, not great athletes who can take it or leave it. A guy that actually likes watching film and studying defenses more than his desire to hang out at a strip club.
