212 Washington State -31½ (Circa Sports)

10 ET/7 PT (PAC 12)—Lay the lumber, lay the wood. But best to do so in late August or early September when lions are eating baby gazelles and not October and November when hunting rhinos or hippopotami. Lay down all thoughts, surrender to the void. Football is near. (We don’t count the NFL Hall of Fame Game as "football" despite the TV coverage, spread and grassy knoll.)

This handicap and pick is a combination Non-Conference mismatch and New Mexico State fade with the Aggies having gone 3-12 ATS their L15. That is not good. It’s that strange time of year when we bet on and bet against Aggies.

A great Trend (Science) I have found by digging like a true Anunnaki hybrid: Washington State is 17-3 ATS its first 5 lined games of the season the L5 years. A great Thought (Art) I have in my head as I peck at the keyboard: Washington State could score 70 here. We need more Science numbnuts. And more Art.

Some Science? Gabe Gubrud transferred in from EW and all the top 4 WRs are back and although the competition level with increase, Gubrud will be happier playing on Green playing surfaces than a Red one half the time. If you want a Red surface, please play on Mars. If you play on a Blue surface, you must be living in your own Private Idaho. Call when they make a fucking Purple field.

WSU has scored almost 130 points combined in its first 3 games the L3 seasons, but those were tougher opponents for the most part, so putting up 55-70 at Martin Stadium (FieldTurf) is a strong possibility. Another good game to bet both the full time and halftime markets with the Cougars likely up big even after the 1st Quarter (21-0?). This will get ugly. It’s a good thing it’s not a beauty contest. Seems like 9 TDs to maybe 1. (AP Style is not for cappers.)

This game’s been bet down from an opening (minus) 34 with likely chalk money taking it back up closer to kickoff. Little public money will be on NMS. Remember when people had real names and the phone was a phone? The WSU Defense has improved four straight seasons and will tee off on a poor Aggies team far from home which ranked #120 in Total Defense last season (475.9).

WSU was tied for #20 in TO Margin (+.62) while NMS was #114 (-0.67) and expect a couple to go the hosts way in this first meeting ever between the two. The Twix bar is the 1st Half bet, the bag of SUNCHIPS® the full game wager.

Brighton to be Relegated (from the PL) +185

Last season Brighton barely stayed up. They fired their manager (Hard to argue that move) but they still figure to spend most of the season near the Drop-Zone. Can't see them finishing higher than 16th and I can see them finishing 18th or worse very easily. This should be a "live ticket" most of the season and getting almost 2-1 is worth a shot. Gotta get this in by Friday so might as well do it today
